Are you for real? Yes, I think I would have some idea if my husband had been sexually harassing/assaulting, possibly raping, being accused of, being investigated for and settling tens of sexual harassment and/or sexual assault cases. Did you miss the part about it being an open secret in Hollywood? I'm not even sure I'd call your ignorance willful. You just sound like a complete moron. |
+1 Especially if it had been going on for 30 years. |
Watch out--you might get reported by the psycho PP suggesting that Jennifer Lawrence didn't have a choice in sleeping with him. (Because you know they must all have been coerced into it.) |
I feel so awful for the women were raped and attacked. And then shamed into silence on top of it. What a sick world we live in. |

At our work the wives have no clue. |
Given that parties are part of the "work" in Hollywood, I'm sure the wife would suspect her husband's behavior. |
Anita Hill went through a high-tech lynching for coming out. She lost her job and was ostracized by many. Her abuser became a Supreme Court judge and if anything, many victims of sexual harassment faded further in the background |

The wives don't have a clue at mine either. Settlements and confidentiality clauses and all that other hush, hush stuff don't make it back to the spouses. The wives don't find out until the termination. |
I feel like Gwyneth could have done more at the time. Even if she was only 22, her parents were Hollywood bigwigs and Paul Newman was basically her godfather. If he was bold enough to proposition her, she must have known that the poor no-name actresses were getting it much worse. "I told my boyfriend." Seems kind of Lane.
Mira sorvino said she told someone at the company. I'd be curious to know what happened with that....I definitely increases the company's legal exposure if they ignored reports like that. |
I felt this way too but I've changed my mind slightly. She was only 22, which is very young. She did tell her support system and Brad the mouse actually did something and it sounds like the advice she got from her family was to get it on professional footing. It's not stellar that she didn't speak up sooner but I can understand why she didn't do so when she was 23. |
Same for the women. |
I’m not going to blame any of the women for not speaking up. Put yourselves in their shoes - you are a young actress wanting to make it. Would you speak up knowing he could make or break your career? I’d like to think that I would speak out, tell people but in reality who knows. I understand why they didn’t speak out.
Just as I understand why women aren’t speaking out against the other powerful producers doing this same type of crime against women today. Face it - there are plenty of other Weinstein’s out there now. Will they be called out? |
I wonder what will come out in days ahead. I think the fact that Seth McFarland made a joke about it years ago seems to point out that everyone knew and it was just the culture. Really twisted and sad. |
