Why would this be a joke? Clearly you weren't a pale 11 yr. old with black pubic hair sprouting out from your underwear, making wearing a swimsuit an impossibility without either shaving or waxing. You must have been one of those blonde children who didn't have any issues with unwanted body hair. Please: don't judge others without walking a mile in their shoes first.

Anyone have this issue for their 8yo (who looks 10 btw)? I am thinking Nair. Is that the "best" one?
DD is so self conscious, and says kids mention her hairy legs when they sit in the circle during class. (She claims they are not teasing per se, but I'm sure they are not saying positive things.) She even went the first few days warm weather insisting on wearing her jeans from the winter. She is normally so outgoing and confident. I feel sorry that it makes her not be herself. (She also has fine hair in the small of her back and on her arms. ) |
Ditto - I wish I had been allowed to wax earlier. I'm Armenian. Lots of black hair everywhere! I also have sensitive skin and razors, nair, etc. make my bikini line break out. I avoided swimming and bathing suits two years (12 & 13) until I discovered waxing. |
| (Black pubic hair sprouting out from your underwear, making wearing a swimsuit an impossibility) I can soo relate to that too, it was soo embarrasing when I was 10, trying to get changed trying to hide that area. If I could have shaved then I would have and I will let my daughter have the option when she starts developing. |
| I would have been far too shy to go for a bikini wax at 10/11, I didn't let my mom see my bush so no way would I let a stranger. |
I know, this is ridiculous and honestly child abuse to have a kid lay there naked getting their pubic hair taken off with hot wax. You can get shirt bathing suits, short bathing suits and kid bathing suits for 8-11yrs old do not show off pubic hair. |

As far as I remember, there are few things worse in the life of most Tweens than. Being embarrassed in gym class.
Just let your kid do what is needed to avoid that. Shave, wax, wear a bra, don't wear a bra, whatever. |

If the child herself is begging to shave or wax due to noticeable pubic hair sticking out, then you should respect them enough to honor her wishes. No one's talking about forcing a child to go in for a bikini wax! But when I was that age, if I had even known what waxing was, I would have been first in line to sign up. And, FYI - you don't "lay there naked," unless you're referring to a Brazilian, which no one here is!! You just have the technician wax away the hair that goes beyond the bikini line - which for many girls/women is actually on the inner thighs, too. Mind your own business!

This. I don't understand why this topic needed 16 pages of arguing social and feminist points. Its her body. She doesn't want hairy legs. As her parent give her the tools and options to remedy that. |
| Wether you're first or last to start developing there is always going to be shyness over how their bodies are changing. I had an older sister so I saw how her body was different to mine and like most girls I wanted to be grown up like her so when I started getting boobs and pubes I saw them as a sign of womanhood and no way would I have wanted to shave. |
I use an electric trimmer. Easy, no risk of cuts, and no stubble. |
In 16 pages, no one is suggesting encouraging maintenance a person doesn't want to do. I'm glad you developed in a way that didn't cause you embarrassment. You are rare. As the last girl in my cohort to bet boobs, pubes, or a bra (thanks mom), I can honestly say that not everything in life has to be a lesson. |
Why is the teacher allowing this to go on? |
| Take her for laser so she won't have this problem for long time. I used Nair, was, and shaving, particularly bikini area. And it was such a mess. Always had bumps in bikini area. Please, do this for her. |
