I overheard a similar discussion when in the parents waiting area of Levine at TheArc. |
Yes, this is persistent problem in many DC public schools. |

OP here.
The PK child in my original post is GONE from the school as of this week. Note to residency cheaters--don't try it in a JKLM where everyone knows where everyone lives and everyone knows their neighbors. You just can't sneak in under the radar. It won't work. For what it's worth, I never said anything. Looks like someone else was on it. The Janney principal advocates strongly for OOB kids who come through legitimate channels but DOES NOT TOLERATE liars/cheaters. |
| Wow. I'm really happy to hear this since at drop off this morning the number of Maryland and even Virginia plates was really annoying. |
| Why would someone from VA go to Janney? |
It's worth nothing actually. You're big enough to complain on an anonymous forum but not big enough to do your own dirty work? You're a gem, huh? |
I could see someone living in Alexandria and working at Fannie Mae wanting their kids to go to Janney. |
My bet is that this sour grapes PP is a current or prospective residency cheater. Her/his voice keeps popping up every now and then. Yay! Very happy the system worked in this case the the cheater is GONE! |
What a stretch... |
Nope. I attend another one of these upper NW schools, in boundary, and have another kid set to enter next year. I just despise people who complain about things but don't take action themselves. Kind of like people who bitch about politics and the government but don't vote. |
Great news! It's a lot harder to sneak in under the radar at Janney, which is almost entirely a neighborhood school. Residency cheating is much more common in schools with a large OOB component and the community is more attenuated. |
Agreed. I don't see why anyone in MD or VA would bother, except perhaps from PG county |
It seems to be mostly a PG problem. |
| How much energy do people at janney spend looking for cheaters? |
This just reflects the limits of your ignorance and nothing more. An argument can be made (and easily defended) that Key, Mann and Janney are the best three elementary schools in the DC region. I wouldn't make a similar argument for HS and I don't know enough about how Deal compares to Pyle, etc., but I am confident in making that statement for Key, Mann and Janney. |
