Interest on a credit card with a high balance
Semi expensive Christmas presents for rich relatives who don't need anything and can afford to buy anything expensive handbag |
I bought one too!!! I never watch QVC but was surfing channels and got sucked in to the presentation. By the end of it I was sure the steamer would revolutionize my life. Darn think broke in about 6 weeks. Grr. |

Funny, I LOVE my treadmill! It's the only way I get to exercise on my own time early in the moring or after kids go to bed.
Wastes include: * cheap toaster oven (always buy something that will last if you know you'll use it) * custom roman blinds that NEVER stayed straight ($3000, people! ARGH!!!!!) * pretty wood walker toy for DD that she used for about a day... until she learned to walk. Best purchases: * nice wood, matching nursery set from Craigslist!!!! Woo!!! Makes up for the effin' expensive roman blinds that don't work, I guess. * IKEA furniture for DD's preschool room. Holding up very, very well! |
| Definitely, the bumbo. Also, not sure what it is made of but I'm pretty sure that it will take about 200 years to decompose on a landfill. |
So funny and true! You know, the vegetable "crisper" section in the refrigerator? Mine should be called the vegetable "rotter". |
| A Volkswagen Passat. |
| One of those mosquito machines you put in your yard, it exhales CO2 and attracts mosquitoes. We caught one. All summer. |

I LOVE my clothes steamer but it was $112 from Amazon, not QVC.
Waist of money: -Leather Jacket from Banana Republic - wore it twice before my cats clawed it to shreds. -Floor length gown from Banana Republic - wore it once to an Opera only to discover that most people seriously under-dress for the Opera in the US. -Lots of books that are easily found at the library - I now only spend money on "specialty" books that aren't found at the local library. -The house we bought when I started grad school. Four years later and we've moved to another state and can't sell our house
-Ikea furniture except the trofast system in my DD's room- it is ALL falling apart now. -vacuum storage bags - expensive and tear easily. -cheap clothes that shrink/fall apart/become misshapen after one wash. -magazine subscriptions (especially cooking magazines!) because I never have time to read them and they end up laying around the house in huge piles until I do. |

Our house in California. We purchased it before the housing boom, but the market dropped so much there that we have been under water for almost three years. The market is finally starting to go back up and I think we'll break even soon.
At least they readjusted our property taxes. |

Bought a Kindle last year to read in bed (since DS was in our room). It has no backlight to read in the dark and now, I put everything on my IPad.
A $300 BCBG dress in one size too small to motivate me to lose weight. A year ago. A full body pillow when I was pregnant for the 1st time 4 years ago. Huge, uncomfortable, and expensive. One of those aspirators that lights up, plays music and makes noise as a distraction for your kid. Scared the shit out of him instead. |
| Re: Tempurpedic, just want to say that I totally disagree with the negative reviews. I tell my husband on a regular basis that it was the best money we have ever spent. I do not find it hot and I wake up totally rested. When I sleep away from home, I cannot wait to get back to my Tempurpedic. I think it is amazing. And before this, we had a very expensive pillow-top mattress that I hated and made my back hurt every morning when I woke up. Don't discount a tempurpedic just because of this thread! |
Interested in selling that kindle? |
| A mouth guard. $600. My husband calls it the sex guard. |
This cracked me up!!!! I have one too, but actually use it, but it really is an indicator to my husband that I am actually going to sleep!! |

I have a SleepNumber bed and I love it.
I spent $10k on my wedding 12 years ago. 100 guests. I am divorced now, but man I have great memories of that wedding. Happiest day of my life. Beautiful wedding - many people still say it's the best wedding they ever attended. |
