Mindy Kaling Weight Loss

People often confuse the Ryans. Gosling and Reynolds. People confuse actors all the time. Don’t be so defensive.

those ryans look nothing alike in the face. at all. normal people confuse strangers who look alike in the face. people with face blindness confuse strangers who have vaguely similar build and hair style but very dissimilar faces. hopefully you never worked in a large office setting. if you did, you were probably very annoying to deal with, with your face blindness.

Exactly. I confuse all the actors named Chris.

Also Matt Damon & Leonardo DiCaprio. They are both 50ish, about 5'11, brown hair, receding hairlines. Not saying they are twins, but I don't distinguish their roles, except for Titanic.

Also, Mindy played a MD in The Mindy Project with scenes at the hospital, so I'm not going to call out someone who confuses her with a MD/Resident actress on ER.

Dp. Good points, though one difference is the white men that you named are way more common in Hollywood. We can all name dozens and dozens of white male actors across generations and yes many are named Chris.

I recently read a stat that there are more CEOs in America named Jeff than there are women CEOs in America. There’s nothing unique about a white male CEO. Anything else is significantly less common.

I don’t think it’s worth shaming people for confusing Indian actresses. But I do find it odd that someone would bother to read this thread if they have no clue who Mindy is, her body of work, etc though it certainly does not offend me.

It was John. And this stopped being true three years ago.

I'm just being facetious. Women, stop tearing other women down! Seriously, what's with it?

Please start a new thread. We absolutely can - I am interested.

Also this idea that we must support everything a woman does is nonsense. I have no idea where it came from.

Absolutely agree we don’t have to support everything a woman does. But I’m still confused why people are mad about Mindy losing weight.

Shrug. I honestly don’t care so no need to explain. Just pointing out the difference between supporting “everything a woman does” vs being upset (and clearly some people are) that some women lose weight or take meds or whatever. Truly don’t get it.

NO ONE CARES she lost weight. Jesus. People don't like being gaslit and lied to. Opposite end of the spectrum? All of the heroin chic emaciated models in the 90s and aughts who SWORE they ate like lumberjacks wolfing down hamburgers and fries like they were headed to the electric chair when it comes out they were living on cocaine (I was going to say coke or blow or snow but this is DCUM) champagne and swallowing orange juice soaked cotton balls to stay satiated.

The public sort of...got over this overt lying. People wisened up. She's using an old PR playbook and people don't buy it someone with a lifelong weight issue all of a sudden loses a ton of weight after three kids in their 40s and 20 years of success and money to pay for the best Hollywood could offer? It's disingenuous.

I actually really like her and love her work. I also think she is pretty self loathing. And that makes her in some way relatable! And she is smart. I honestly don't care aboit the number on her scale but she's kind of toxic from a PR standpoint because of how she views her own self worth and body if that makes sense?

First, some people clearly from this thread absolutely care that she lost weight.

But yes, I understand your point that lying is annoying. I think it’s a little overboard to call out a celebrity for “gaslighting” you. These aren’t personal relationships though
I agree it’s a little annoying. But it’s also just not our business.

I also feel like this is very much a moment in time. In 5 to 10 years, assuming these drugs are still safe and effective, we won’t even probably be asking or wondering. It’ll just be a given and some people will continue to talk about their experiences and others won’t.

I’ll say one more thing, on the flipside I get annoyed with how honest celebs are about sone of these unproven anti-aging fads. I was just listening to a podcast where Chelsea Handler list a ton of peptides she’s taking and swears by them. The truth is we really don’t know the long-term effects of peptides or if they’re even working. She admitted she was obsessed with them, but was doing so many other anti aging procedures she couldn’t pinpoint why she looked good to any one thing. I just feel like it’s irresponsible for celebrities sometimes to taut the benefits of these things. The weight loss drugs seem safe and effective, but the jury is still out in the long-term.

I'm not the PP you're responding to but your post reads very logical to me. I agree with the "moment in time" note in particular. I have noticed that Mindy mostly talks about eating smaller portions / less frequently, which technically is how people on GLPs lose weight. I assumed that's basically a way of saying she is on one without feeling the need to promote one in particular. (If she has speicifcally spoken out against GLP-1s, I missed that). I have a lot of respect for her work and am excited for her new show!

Because it’s not about Mindy at all. People feel very threatened when someone gets skinny

Ever since I started taking my health more seriously and losing weight, one of my coworkers insists on making snide comments about my "special diet". It's sad, really.

I know three couples who got divorced when one of them lost a lot of weight. It’s like they felt betrayed or something.

People confuse actors all the time. Mindy and Parminder are extremely similar names. I didn’t even read your screed because you know i am right.

She’s a single mom of 3 in her 40s who has very little dating history and is insecure. Who would be threatened?

that poster has a serious case of faceblindness and dyslexia or some other learning disability. they probably can't tell their own mom and dad apart.

It’s not the losing weight. It’s the lying over something so obvious. Vanessa Williams also lost weight recently and has been open about using GLPs and you don’t hear a peep about it.

coz i was curious what's special about her weight loss that warranted 14 pages of discussion - i, genuinely, thought she just lost weight and had gone back to her old skinny days in the ER.

All of the other single mothers (and married ones) in the same age range that are built like an Aberdeen Angus.
