Let me lay it out for you -- The Emperor has no clothes and MV is not a good coach. Whoever is trying to convince otherwise is either an employee or a relative of MV. The truth is that your DD will not develop under him and they will play the lowest form of kickball and call it "Dutch Total Football". It's not even close, it is basic playground elementary school soccer during recess or PE class.

Very different than the play style ML coached with the 2010s last year.

Very different results also.

Why? Because the team included MV's key Brave players who combined well with the strong Union/Mclean players to form a competitive team. MV definitely developed strong players. The proof is also in the outcome at playoffs the previous year when each team advanced separately. Brave did really well at playoffs under MV, but that 0-10 Union/Mclean loss remains legendary unfortunately.

Athletic kids who are serious about the game would do well with him, though he’s likely only to promote the really elite players.

This is like the tenth "doesn't mess around with the parent bs" post. If this is the talking point Onion came up with its bad guys.

BRAVE 2010 was a literal kickball team. They played in a kickball league and sometimes played ECNL. Lots of early bloomers on that team who were big and strong and fast. How is that going now? Did MV‘s amazing development translate to high school? I bet it didn’t.

It’s the same person within The Onion organization trying to help promote MV kickball when it’s known entity that sucks. No amount of spin here is going to change that MVU is crap soccer.

Were't those players about half the group that the exiting coaches recruited when they left? Says a lot!

How do the older brave kids do? That should tell you a lot about the development and coaching. Not going to offer an opinion, ask yourselves. (Maintaining place on team at older ages, college commitments, playing past college…). Are the older ECNL teams filled with Brave players, are they getting good commitments? Tell me that and we will talk about development and good coaching.

Chill, dude. Sounds like your kid didn't make Brave or FVU. Time to get over it. All this anger can't be healthy for you. No need to malign teen girls in all these posts.

definitely seems like one person with an axe to grind. hard to take their opinion seriously when the rants are so continuous and angry.

But MV will definitely have his work cut out for him since there doesnt appear to be a whole successful team shifting directly to union. 2014 doesnt appear to have many strong players/teams in the area anyway, so they may seem OK because of lack of competition.

I think it’s the opposite. I think there are a lot of unhappy people with him and one or two people that are writing positively about him on DCUM.

What about Valor, which is the strongest 2014 team in the FVU grouping?

3-5 strong players from Valor. Who knows if they go to FVU especially since their tryouts are a month later. 3-5 aren’t going to be able to carry the team on 11v11 like they did at 9v9. FVU is going to get the kids who didn’t make A teams elsewhere. This snow storm will help them some but a bad move by the club not to move up their tryouts.

NVA, Mclean, SYC, VDA, and Arlington are all going to be basically the same caliber of team whith FVU being a notch below if the core of their talent is coming from valor. Not that bad but not good enough to make the team consistently competitive with those I listed.

Still, theyll be able to grab a few wins against teams like Arlington in local tourneys and league play because even those better teams are not dominant teams. 2013s have better talent.

How can a team with 3-5 players from Valor plus kids who didn’t make other teams be just a notch below? Especially when everyone is saying MV is a bad coach. Also, is 2013 better talent or more distributed? You have no way of comparing 2013 vs 2014, especially with the age change.

It looks like their admins are working overtime because I guess they decided to move up to Feb 1 after all.

The 2013s were mostly McLean, right? They were a group of girls that were already good and had played together already. 2014 FVU seems like it will be a mix of a few girls from many different teams coming together for the first time. It could work.
