This is a very interesting point. Democrats and Republicans define each other's platforms differently and uncharitably. There ARE official policy platform documents for each party, ratified around the time of their respective conventions. For each party, there are a few different ways to think of the platforms, ranging from: most idealized (what the partisans believe about their own platform) to semi-idealized (how the parties market themselves) to semi-accurate (official stated policies) to more accurate (policy track record and affects of those policies on outcomes) to cynical (what opponents uncharitably say about the opposing platform) to cynical/dishonest future predictions (what opponents fearmonger the opposition might decide to do in the future) A good starting point for an honest comparison would be the policy platform documents. And the actual policies passed via law, executive order, and administrative rulemaking during each party's recent tenure. And the results of those policies. Do any metrics improve--does income inequality every go down, do educational test scores ever go up, does homelessness ever go down, do houses ever get more affordable? Etc. Here are the platforms themselves from this past election cycle. https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/2024-democratic-party-platform https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/2024-republican-party-platform |
It was a bad bill. It would grant amnesty to lots of illegals, allows thousands to cross the border daily, etc. It was just a cynical campaign trick by Dems, not an actual tough on the border bill. |
Maybe the Democrats will win the next election on issues of 401Ks and crypto? |
We seem to be entering an era in which Democrats would rather be "right" than win. The new litmus test...did you vote for Kamala? If not, you're out. Did you vote for Trump? If so, you're out. The new party is for proven Kamala enthusiasts only. They're gonna do great! |
MAGAS don't have enough common sense to open their umbrella in a storm of $hit! |
It's easy. Did you vote for the one currently dismantling the Constitution? If people can't agree on that, you know they aren't tooting gor the U.S. anyway. |
* rooting for. |
To this “elite” snob, I see a direct correlation between your restricted income and your poor choices. You’re going to lose your shirt, but the Tesla board members who can’t dump their stock fast enough appreciate your sacrifice. Oh, who am I kidding, they don’t think about you at all. |
And people who didn't vote also voted for Kamala. Funny how that works. Your party lost because they failed to motivate enough voters to vote for them. Denial is the first phase of grief, but it's really time to move on. |
That's not always true. In 2020, the GOP had no party platform. Everyone voted for the whims of Trump, which is crazy. There was one in 2024, not like it mattered. It's still his whims. Just look at the head spinning tariffs. |
That is untrue. It DID NOT grant amnesty and did not "allow" thousands to cross the border, what it did was give CBP authority to unilaterally shut down the border if they were seeing thousands attempting to cross, the number was based on their detention capabilities. Your lies about the Bipartisan Border Bill were a cynical trick by Republicans, who grossly lied and misrepresented it. The Lankford Bipartisan Border bill has several strengths: Enhanced Border Security: The bill provides funding to build more border barriers, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, agents, and deportation flights. It also increased resources for detecting fentanyl and other drugs at points of entry, whereas the House bill did not even have a single mention of fentanyl. Improved Asylum Process: It aims to end the abuse of parole on the southwest border and dramatically changes asylum laws by conducting fast screenings with a higher standard of evidence, limited appeals, and fast deportation. Emergency Authorities: The bill includes new emergency authorities to shut down the border when it is overrun, new hiring authorities to quickly increase officers, and new hearing authorities to quickly apply consequences for illegal crossings. Detain and Deport Policy: It shifts the border policy from "catch and release" to "detain and deport," aiming to reduce the number of illegal crossings. Whoever told you it would grant mass amnesty and so on is not a credible or reliable source of information and I would recommend no longer using it. |
Did we need a bipartisan border bill?
I was told by democrats the only way to stop thousands a day coming across the border was to enact new legislation. Now, President Trump has stopped that without new legislation. ? |
At this point more than 51% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy, even more of his tariffs. Presumably there are some MAGA in that group. And most of his destruction is only starting to trickle out. So it’ll get worse for him. |
Yes. We do. The reason the numbers are going down is because Trump is flushing our economy down the toilet. Fewer people come when the economy sucks. That’s why the numbers are down when Trump is in office. Personally I’d prefer the nice things having the best economy in the world brings. YMMV. |
oh yea, that's right elitist dems have been saying to raise taxes on them, support living wages, and protect unions.. because they only care about DC paycheck ![]() -signed an Independent |
