2) Is GA then all ready oversaturated in the DMV market going from one badge to five in two years?

In general there is oversaturation of "elite" clubs because of the presence of both GA and ECNL.
MLSN is making it worse with MLSN2
So instead of ECNL-G and ECNL B there is now
ECNL-G and GA
MLSN and ECNL-B
ECNL-RL and MLSN2/GA2

For now local teams will compete on national level in GA but with the rapid expansion soon they won't be able to do so any longer.
And on the boys side not even the Samba Boyz will be relevant any longer nationally.

Agreed that this is diluting the talent pool further. Also note that of the 32 2011 girls invited to the regional US soccer talent ID center today only six are from GA clubs. None are from SYC or TSJ. The top ECNL girls from NVA and FVU should try to make it onto the remainingECNL clubs instead of go GA.

How could SYC not have a single 2009/2010/2011 training center invitation? The self proclaimed best girls club in virginia!

Source? Or, are you just a $hit talker?

Troll is totally fixated on SYC in everything they do.

How's Brave Leadership dealing with McLean leaving Union? It seems like this could be their chance to ditch NM for good and kick off something new. Any updates?

Why do you constantly post the exact same thing in multiple threads?

Why would they want to do that? The only coach at Union that has any track record of putting players in college

And he’s the one bringing Great falls to the new Union….keep up lol!

Why would they want to? Goal of soccer on the girl's side is college. I don't see how this would help.

That was the original goal with ECNL but that is not the goal with GA. And with the GA-blessing-by-US-Soccer and the MLSN clubs affiliating with GA, GA will be positioned as the NWSL/pro pathway, because folks think GA will mirror the MLSN-to-pro/MLS pathway.

I am glad it is not GA's goal because they suck at it.

Their is no pathway --- there is a loose alliance that means zero today at least. It is what people enter into to see if there might be something to do in the future. The PP who said 3-8 years is right. And if they wanted to build something the alliance would be with NWSL not MSL.

Did anyone tell NWSL about this pathway? The girls that go play pro now come from ECNL? NWSL is not going to enter into anything that changes that over the next several years. They do not have the money to do that. If NWSL did do anything it would be an arrangement with ECNL.

The key on the girl's side is college. Going pro is less than 1% of the girls. Most would not want it in any event. Certainly not on the UMC/UC teams in this area. Look at where people are going -- Ivies, Vandy, G'Town, even the high academic D3s. Pro is not a priority except for a small few.

If you listen to what people are saying on here they would be building a pathway for 40 girls a year to the exclusion of the rest.

Do you actually know any college-bound or college soccer players?

It may not be realistic, but I don't know any who'd say they'd turn down a professional opportunity.

Yes they would. There is almost no money in it and very few spots. It is not the men’s game unless you can be marketed. In this area these girls are going to med and law school. And yes two DD playing in college.

I know of at least one NWYNT player (actually played for the team) that turned down a pro opportunity because college was important. It happens.

Haven't heard from this guy in a while.

Yea right, players that can play pro would ever choose to play in college.

Not a club defender, but the best girls from 2011-2007 previously left SYC for the Union. SYC didn't break away until last year when they got GA. That is part of why SYC is significantly more dominant at 2012-2013 ages than 2007-2011 ages. I also think connections are important...but let's see if SYC can start getting some of their younger girls invitations by retaining their best players now.

For the 40 or so a year who could go pro I agree. For the rest, it is college. Look β€”- this is not an NBA or even NFL deal. You will not make money at this. There is no payoff at the end of the day. No pot of gold. If the kids were not UC or UMC maybe they would still try. But they have other stuff to do. For the top ones sure.

Let the girls decide which is more desirable, GA or ECNL, if the SYC girls go home instead of staying with Union, then you have your answer. If they don’t, you also have your answer. Your comment confirms the girls chose ECNL. Deal with it. If the 2012-2013 SYC girls beat NVA, FVU, Richmond, or Arlington girls of the same age, then you may have a point, until then all we know is that SYC girls chose ECNL at the older age groups. How about we petition the SYC coaches and ARL, NVA, FVU girls to scrimmage each other at the u little age groups. Then we would have a real answer instead of this nonsense you are repeating over and over and over on every thread all the time. Until then. This N VA commentary about GA being better at the 2012-2013 age group only is tiring and old. It is also not consistent with what the majority of older SYC girls have said by their actions. And as we know, actions speak louder than words. Not yours, they mean nothing. The actual girls playing soccer. Your words mean nothing.

FWIW, Loudoun teams are generally awful.

It is in the best interest of the kids. ECNL player development is awful, MLSNext is not.

So certainly not a NVA troll, could care less if NVA nor McLean does much of anything. Does make me curious why those two are the two moving? And to be clear talking about Loudoun and McLean not NVA nor Union. Honestly, what are the other big clubs in NoVa? Don't say Arlington, they are just a big (population) county that could have a donkey and elephant running things and they would still generate profit running a soccer club. Will win nothing but will always be in business. McLean and Loudoun were the standard bearers for 30years. ECNL hats have to worried.

Wait so only three ECNL clubs now VDA, Arlington and what's left of Union?

Anyone else seeing the issue with this...

No, one... These clubs have zero history/tradition McLean and Loudoun have always lead the pack in VA

Loudoun? Dear God, man. They’ve done nothing for a decade.
