I am talking to a lot of Democrats who want Trump to succeed.

Ambivalent here.

In one way I want him to do everything he says he'll do and have it turn bad to teach the country a lesson.

But I also don't want to live with that scenario
-could be bad for me personally (inflation, Medicare, Social Security as I retired this year and plan not to touch my retirement assets for another 3 years)
-could be horrifying (foreign policy, immigration, persecution of opponents)

(and it can take a looong time for the lesson to be learned)

There was one shooting of an unapologetic 1%-er who made his fortune on the backs and deaths of America's most vulnerable sick and dying. I am wealthy and successful by many standards yet I have zero concerns that someone will target me for any of those things. Again, it's incredible how foolish you are. When there is chaos, no one distinguishes good people from bad people.

If demonizing the 1% -er who was killed makes you sleep better at night, have at it. This man was working within an existing system that promotes that level of greed and callousness. Many comfortable people including doctors, lawyers, bankers, lobbyist, consultants etc are working in the same system. If you think people who are hurting for one reason will continue to make distinctions between this man and them, you are naive. If they were capable of distinction, we will not have Trump as president, and we would not have had what happened on Jan 6.

We need to come together to fix this country. You might be shocked at how your fellow American is reacting to the issues facing this country, but you cannot ignore that there are real issues. Wishing for Trump to make things much worse just so you can gloat is childish and unproductive especially because you and I will definitely not be immune from the consequences.
