Pete Hedgseth for Secretary of Defense

No one in the trump administration will have a code of ethics or moral compass by which they live their lives. No decent person would work for Trump.

Tattoos in the military? When did that become acceptable?

Of course dcum doesn’t like him, he works for a living.

I will take a grunt over 10,000 4 star generals any day of the week.

He's far more than a grunt, but never made the "political" transition to rise above the rank of major. That said, he isn't a babe in the woods when it comes to civilian politics, having covered that in his stint at FOX. Yes, that's one of the reasons Trump nominated him, but it's not the only one. It seems like Trump is tired of the career politicians with token military service serving as SECDEF. He wants someone who will execute his agenda for the DoD - not someone who has their own agenda and is looking to sit on corporate boards for big $$$ after a few years.

Someone to "execute" with no executive experience?

It's just so painfully obvious. He has no executive experience. He's a Fox News weekend host. This isn't the job to get that executive experience. He has no chance of being effective.

Not trying to be funny here but aren’t all the generals on tv? It doesn’t seem like they frequent airbases or visit the troops. Too busy getting their makeup done to appear with Dana Bash or Anderson Cooper

Nice to know he’s fighting for our freedom. He sounds like he fits with the Taliban he was fighting

The National Guard is a completely different organization (and culture) than the active duty.

To include how they provide awards.

His actual time with MN NG needs to be explored further. Including what he did to receive 2 Bronze stars. IMO.

I’m a dem and it’s not like I agreed with someone like Rumsfeld on policy, but I trusted his intelligence / capacity to do the job. My parents vote republican and for years my dad has said it’s stocks and the republicans’ higher credibility on national security. I’d love to see the senate tell Trump to try again on this one, but I realize that’s not likely to happen.

Also, I personally don’t care about the divorces but since that’s disqualifying for leadership positions in the military as conduct unbecoming than I think the rules need to change or change they need to be applied here too.

How disrespectful of him.

My major issue with him is that he encouraged Trump to go to bat for those service members who committed war crimes. We'll certainly be hearing more about that during his confirmation hearing.

Cite source as divorces are disqualifying for leadership positions in military.

For at least the past 40 years.

I don’t think this guy is qualified but there’s a lot more to complain about than tattoos.

Good that he’s not just another general. We have so many of them running around we don’t know what to do with them all. But I’d prefer to have an experienced civilian with private sector experience running large organizations.

Lmao.

I don’t why you people keep Posting
“ I guess this will come Out during the confirmation hearings” and “ we’ll see how he gets confirmed”
There aren’t going to be confirmation hearings. Trump has forced the senate republicans to give up that power. There aren’t checks and balances this time. There aren’t guardrails.

White Nationalist who believes in 1) "purifying" the military and ridding it of non-whites 2) civil war 3) christian nationalism.

So imagine what happens when it is routine for the US military, post purge of the generals as has been proposed, are roaming the streets of the US with the mission of purges and adherence to Christian Nationalism?

Add to he the thousand even more more radicalized Oath Keepers who will be pardoned and released from prison post 1/6 convictions.

Fun times!
