+ 1 And the elephant in the room is he does call for a ban, on “late term” abortions, without saying what that means. I’ve heard DCUM forced birthers say that’s any time after 12 weeks. |
Trump is a serial liar. It just doesn't matter what his platform says. It really doesn't. |
What his platform states? Please. He probably has no clue what his platform states and even if he did, it means nothing. Remember he droned on and on about building a wall and mexico will pay for it. What a load of crap. All that matters to voters is that he hit them hard with the destruction of their reproductive rights and there is no way he gets another chance to do more damage. He trashed roe and that better be enough for him because he is done. |
Why would anyone get an abortion after they’re already showing? You think getting an abortion at 20 weeks is ok? Babies are increasingly viable and surviving at 5 month premature birth. I think 12 weeks is far better than the proposed five to six weeks or eight week bans which is absolutely ridiculous. At three months pregnant, you had to have figured out you’re pregnant by then through 2 missed periods and morning sickness etc. |
I think this is a pretty big clue as to why folks like you are unfortunately driving all this new policy. |
1. Not everybody has consistent periods 2. Not everybody has morning sickness (I certainly didn't) 3. Not everybody shows by 3 months (I didn't) 4. Anatomy scan is around 18-22 weeks. I know anti-abortion conservatives who ended up getting an abortion at that point because it revealed a fatal cardiac abnormality and didn't want to carry it for another 20 weeks to watch it die. PS, the experience made them switch to supporting abortion rights and lamenting the overturn of roe vs. wade? Note that the mother's health was not in jeopardy so conservative GOP folks would have forced the mother to carry it the remaining 20 weeks to watch it die, against her will and freedom to choose. |
What’s a pretty big clue? Abortion bans already exist. After the first trimester or beginning of the second trimester, abortion is banned unless in emergency cases. Even liberal places like Canada and Europe have abortion bans after a certain amount of time. How do you not know you can’t just walk into a clinic and get an elective abortion while you’re 5-6 months pregnant? In most places, you’ve passed the deadline |
Well sure, let's combine a 12 week ban with increasingly limited access to care, misinformation, and complete disregard for women's health. Its the perfect combination to get women pregnant, limit their ability to access care and information on their pregnancies until it's too late to do anything about it, and hey if a bunch of women end up infertile/dead/traumatized because they didn't get the information that they needed in time, all the better right? Because f'em. |
Yes. 20 weeks was when my sister had to terminate her desperately wanted second child because they discovered— at the 20 week scan— a birth defect which would have let the baby live only a handful of excruciating hours. |
So you’re going to just keep claiming he’s stripping all Americans of their rights because no one can ever prove otherwise? Despite things he’s said and news articles and his platform itself? I mean just be honest. Say “I hate him so I’m not voting for him.” Stop trotting out all these other baseless claims (and yes they are baseless - just because you don’t trust him is not actual proof). |
You won’t tell us which of these is true. He said he’d support a 15 week ban. He said he’d support a 20 week ban. His platform says he opposes late term abortion without saying what that means. His Vice President pick called for a Federal response for women traveling for abortion care. So which version is true? And how do you know? |
Generally nobody but Trump spouts on about afterbirth abortions. The reason for the lack of restriction is because defining specific scenarios where abortion is allowed vs. not "for the health of the mother" has already proven to be very faulty; increases the danger for the mother while carrying a potentially nonviable fetus, waiting for a mother to get "sick enough" and not knowing if the local (not medically trained) prosecutor's office will agree if the woman was "sick enough". How much risk is allowed and how do you define it? 30%? 50%? 75%? Every clinical situation is different and unlikely to be adequately covered in a legal document. Your fear about elective late term abortions means nonelective late term abortions that are needed don't happen and puts women at increasing risk. You literally sacrifice women's lives through legislation. PS Canada doesn't have restriction on abortion and they seem to do fine. |
Everyone knows his SCOTUS appointments were tasked with overturning Roe and they did it. You are really ignorant. |
Yes, I'm going to continue claiming his posted platform is a pack of lies because that's who is has proven to be. |
I mean you can continue to do that, but it doesn’t make you look too good if when confronted with contrary evidence to your claim you just keep saying “he’s lying.” Once again, this is your opinion, not fact. |
