Uh, midwestern farmers get more federal aid (ie welfare and subsidies) than anyone else in the country. But you keep telling yourself that. |
Just stop gaslighting. Trump’s people aren’t poor and they aren’t mistreated. They all have the jobs and the lifestyles and the standards of living they chose and earned. Nobody held them back. We subsidize their healthcare and retirement and education and water, sewer, and transportation infrastructure so they can live in a 95% white rural community or small town or exurb with low taxes and few services, just the way they like it. Every one of them is exactly who, what, and where they chose to be. That’s why all their grievances are imaginary problems and conspiracy theories. There real lives are boring and uneventful. |
You didn't say anything to contradict what I said. I said, they don't *want* to be reliant. See, you can't even read statements that don't conform to your worldview. Your brain just scrambles the words into an order that comports with your views. |
Actually, it’s “champ”. TIL! |
This is well said and true. |
I’m pretty sure that those of you who are talking about middle America and the working class don’t belong to either. |
THIS! |
Do you? |
Man do I have memories of me (registered Democrat) posting on DCUM in summer 2016 saying that Trump was going to win. This thread is bringing me back. |
You claim they don't want the "welfare" but yet, they take it. If what you said was true, they wouldn't. |
Dp- BULLSH—-T My lake county Ohio Nextdoor posts are full of white able bodied people asking for handouts. GTFOH with your “proud working middle Americans” nonsense. |
If you ever worked for a Member of Congress, you would find that nobody asks for more government assistance than “bootstraps” conservatives. All the Republican counties and municipalities are constantly begging the federal government to build new infrastructure for them, subsidize every new development, etc., and Congressional caseworkers are inundated with conservatives seeking disability benefits, SBA loans, federal jobs, and every kind of benefit you can imagine. The distinguishing characteristic of conservatives is that they never for a second doubt that they are entitled to anything that they want. |
My parents were working class, they raised me middle class (thank you GI bill), and I now am upper-middle. You don’t forget the values you were raised with even if your material circumstances change. But I also don’t feel like I can speak for any class of people. These are just stereotypes, and that’s part of the problem. |
As evidenced by the red taker states being subsidized by the blue maker states and blue maker cities where 75% of the US GDP and wealth is created. |
Winning the general presidential election in 2024 should be an easy win for the Dems considering their opponent is Trump but unfortunately it won't be with an unpopular 81 year old. |
