Are antivaxxers all just contrarians and conspiracy theorists?

I think they are salt of the earth types that understand the dark side of human nature in regards to power and authority. They are more immune to peer pressure and would probably be the last defense against communism. They seem distrustful of centralized power and authority and would probably be in the 20 percent that wanted revolution against the English crown. They seem like the founding fathers type.

Oh, now it's fan fiction. yay.

The main thing that makes me major league suspicious is the obfuscation regarding the obvious Covid origin of a Chinese lab. Why can’t the public know the basic facts? The “we know best and aren’t going to tell you the facts and have to lie to you because you might decide not to do what we want you to do” is un-American and stupid.

The lying was and is terrible. But once you (the general person, not you you) believe that everyone is lying about everything, you haven't uncovered the truth, you are stuck where all truth and lies are equal and you choose what to believe based on feelings. Going from "some non-profit covered up the Wuhan lab because they didn't want to get in trouble" to "being a member of the 5G microchipped vaccine election-denying Trump cult" shows that being right about the lab is a convenient coincidence, not the result of critical thinking.

But my vaccine arm still feels sore 2 years later.

The way they were pushing that 2 years ago was waaaaayyy over the top, like giving free burgers and donuts to making people show vaccine cards within the span of 4 months was weird. Once it became clear it was all a money grab from pfizer and Moderna and not about saving people, my trust went down.

I still am pro-vaccine. But I won’t go near another covid vaccine probably ever again. Especially since I got Covid 3 times since I got fully vaccinated.

You live in USA. Name one good thing that requires the complexity of a large organization, that isn't also a money grab. Money grab doesn't mean the underlying thing is wrong.
Insulin is the biggest money grab in history. Does that make it not medically valuable?

The only anti-vaxx people who reject all vaccines that I know are relatives with a high school diploma. They think everyone else is dumb but they believe in traditional Chinese medicine or whatever. From what I actually hear from them at Thanksgiving, they think the body works from magical energy and they have to pay some guy to prepare herbs to keep it all in balance.

I'd love to know how anyone is making smallpox come back. It's been eradicated for over 40 years. There's only two known samples in the entire world held in national labs.

Cool. Just don't force me to take it when its brand new and clinical trials aren't finished yet. I hope they work out very well.

Nobody was forced to get an "experimental" vaccine.

Forced as in, they would’ve lost their financial security by having their job taken away if they didn’t take it.

Yeah totally not forced at all.

You pretend like that didn’t happen. That should’ve never happen. I’m fully vaccinated voluntarily, but that was a step too far. Asking people to give up their livelihood if they weren’t comfortable with taking a new product.

Nobody has a right to a specific job and employers have to provide safe workplaces.

And what about people who work with vulnerable people - nurses, firefighters etc.

The problem is, that vaccine didn’t prevent or stop transmission. So that argument is useless and void.

Your insistence on 100% prevention is a dumb argument.

The worst ones are the illegals with no vaccination requirements bringing back TB.

The problem is that there are way more filthy Trumpers spreading their diseases because they believe public health regulations are communism.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw a person who got the latest booster pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

You don't need "illegals" for that. It's already endemic in certain contexts in the US.

“The illegals”? Who let racist old uncle Chuck back on the internet? Take away his phone again.

George Washington forced his troops to get inoculated by rubbing their cuts with smallpox infested cloths. No clinical trials or anything.
