Is anyone else super triggered by ppl showing off on social media?

I picture that person taking said selfie and how comical they might look to others around them. Haven’t you seen people who do that? They sit there making faces, spending good 10 minutes retaking a photo just to get a perfect one. They usually don’t seem like they are enjoying themselves all that much.

What’s funny is that this is acceptable. Like why aren’t people staring and giggling at someone posing like that? They look SO SILLY!! And yet, everyone acts like doing that is normal.

She also will take my ear off about buying a car or something like that, which I find more annoying. I just let her ramble on and half listen. The funniest thing she ever said was she often felt isolated because of her wealth. Huge eye roll. I wanted to say, “People don’t like you because of your personality not your money.”

Also if she is coworker presumably not so rich they does not need to work so how jealous can ppl be?

Guys. You get access to a lounge with a platinum amex card. Even if you fly coach. It's true!

This is why I barely post on facebook. Like 2 posts per year. You cant post pics of your xmas dinner or vacation pics without offending people these days. Sending them into therapy if you tag yourself at anything above a Marriott.

It’s partly that I work in marketing (so it annoys me professionally) but like - next level. Case in point - when people tag business class lounges in social media posts. I travel often and usually biz class but I would never ever ever do this. Curious if anyone else finds this type of thing vvvv annoying?
If you do not find it annoying - no need to comment. Really just interested to hear from anyone who does. I would love figure out why I am so triggered and thus move past this

OP, yes I find people who are constantly showing off on SM terribly annoying. I know someone who is always showing a picture of her luxury car. Another person always posting a picture of herself in a bikini, etc. All of them are kind of annoying in real life and have major self esteem issues. I actually feel bad for them. Maybe that's how you get past this.

If a person does not have issues with their self esteem when they start using SM, they will soon develop self esteem issues, as a result of using SM.

The answer is: stop using.

It is when a person looks like this, as a result of someone’s words:

Kind of like how when someone has an achievement and gets attention and praise for it so someone butts in with their achievement so they can get praise too. But since you don't post you don't get the attention and that's really what bothers you

See I think this is the moist that most closely gets to the heart of the issue.

I think it’s an issue bc OP can see that the world of marketing changed and what works in terms of marketing right now can be done for companies through regular people. And the truth is making decent content for social media takes a bit if savvy and those who do it well actually know how to “market” so to speak their content.

IMO the OP is missing out. Maybe right now she doesn’t understand social media to the level she feels she could be successful but just like others instead of criticizing she should start observing and then emulating those who get the best reaction to their content.

Op - I am very very good at social media and paid extremely well to counsel on it.
Humble bragging and overt bragging posts rarely get a lot of positive engagement among acquaintances - but as others have pointed out, a lot of aspirational influencer content will. I think people have very different feelings to Kim kardashian posting from her jet to some dude you know. There’s a level of fame and brand that is based off of such content. Clive from summit nj’s brand is not grounded in his bling lifestyle

How did you get into the field of social media consultation? How much do you charge? What is one commonly known truth among insiders in the field that would surprise ur average social media user?

Why, to flex that they have a credit card? Everyone does.

Triggered and speaking to a therapist about it? Yeah, you shouldn't be on Social media, OP.

Traveling that much is annoying. No one wants to travel that much. Come on, you are overthinking this. An airport lounge isnt a flex. Its just an upgraded version of any other airport experience. Cheap wine and mushy sandwiches.

We live in a society that validates and indulges these types of feelings. This is why Prince Harry is able to publicly complain about his palace parking spot and we applaud and view him as enlightened.
