+1. I actually think that's what got Ana killed. She bought the new house in DC, new job, she made all the money, and her friends have reported that she had the kids bedrooms all set up in DC. She told him she was taking the kids to DC with her when he eventually reported to prison as they both knew he would.

So sad to think that she stayed just one day too long and now her kids are motherless.

And effectively fatherless too. They are orphans with an older, infirm grandma on one side (who raised a murderer) and their mom's side live out of the country. So so sad.

I'm not saying moving the kids to Canada is impossible, but you can't honestly be so stupid as to think that from a legal guardianship perspective, sending the kids to another country is "essentially the same" as keeping them in the country. You know that they have different laws, different government, different rules for citizenship? Ever heard the phrase "international adoption"? Its not the same as a domestic adoption.

There is some reciprocity between Canada and the US when it comes to child and family. Rulings made in US can very reinforced in Canada and vice versa. So I wouldn't rule out Canada at all.

Same culture? You haven’t been to Canada. I grew up on the border and while there are similarities, they are different. I grant that Canadian culture is closer to the US than Serbian culture.

The story mentions the investigation didn't happen because victim was uncompetitive- but the date beside this note is January 11, 2023.

If this document is authentic it sounds more like the police didn't follow up.

Police completed that field before retrieving the report on January 12, 2023 to explain the status of 2014 case.
