interesting discussion regarding abysmal decline of MoCo schools

That's not the policy. The policy is that you get 50% until the end of the quarter, and THEN a 0% can be given. So, you can't get 0% without multiple opportunities to submit. It is meant to allow some grace to kids who experience a bad couple of weeks, and give them a chance to achieve a passing grade if they do the work to catch up.

Why do you get multiple opportunities to submit late HW? If it isn't in on time you should get a 0% immediately. Imagine being 3 weeks late at work for a required deadline that could have significant effects on your company. You'd be fired. Turning in hw on time is a bare minimum to simply avoid getting a zero. This is pathetic policy.

MCPS sound like an absolute disaster. Zero accountability. Zero standards. Rapid decline of quality. How long until people with money stop moving to this county to flee all of the progressivism ruining the schools and county? The only reason property values maintained value in MoCo was always because of the schools. The discussion going on now with messages from insiders is truly shocking. MoCo looks like it is in rapid decline and once the schools go, what reason will there be to stay?

So completely and thoroughly f'ed up. MCPS's been in rapid decline for many years. But if you say anything, then you are a racist. God help us.

LOL, I love these crocodile tears. There is ABSOLUTELY NO DECLINE. What has changed are the demographics of the county. You may have noticed. This means some things are different, but you can get a better education today than in the past.

The story of the kid kneeing the student and literally being in class the next day = decline of MCPS. Zero discipline allowed.

It's not demographics. Its the curriculum, teaching style and no homework... all things we had prior to the decline.

my kindergartener and 1st grader have homework (I don't agree with HW at this age) as do older kids we are friends with at a few different schools. This no HW thing is a myth

how did you "realize the decline?"

They read DCUM naturally.

Nope. We read the Hopkins audit and talked with families with kids just a few years older than ours. 90% of them were deeply critical of MCPS.

1.Well it must be private schools parents or parents in an alternate universe because over 82% of MoCo residents in RL are very happy with MCPS.
2 The Hopkins audit said nothing about "declining schools" in MCPS. What it said was C2.0 was "deficient" for certain segments/groups.

My 4th grader has "optional" homework, which is the same as no homework, because homework that isn't checked or evaluated or required isn't getting done.

My high schoolers do get homework though. Although not nearly as much as I used to get when I was their age...

So why don’t you have your 4th grader do the work? MoCo parents are such a trip…. Whine about not enough work… whine about too much work…. Whine about not enough punishments… complain there are none….never ends.

Correct. The smart ones vote with their feet. It’s called a ‘bright flight.’

Intelligent people aren’t “fleeing progressivism,” but enjoy your dumbed down each chamber.

What in the world? Try parenting. If your kid is done with their class work, they need to read a book, not scroll on their phone.

Yes, for the county's demographics, it's amazing. Best by far!

No. Citation needed.

Not even close on either statement. But they pay you to write garbage. Well done!
