Why don’t more parents send their kids to Basis McLean?

Yes, there are some teachers left including middle school director. But only 4.25% teachers left.
I am the one who posted many posts in this thread in Spring with imperfect English. I am back.
lol

Your percentage of teachers leaving would imply 2-3 when the real number is much higher. Many of us know who is still teaching there or not. Make up whatever you like for your rah-rah campaign.

6/141 is the percentage
Only 6 left

Go find 141 teachers on their website. I'll sit and wait. You assume that no former teachers still have accounts on ParentSquare that were never deleted. Mine may still be there, LOL.

It's not a reliable metric, just like your statistics.

A teacher cohort of 141 would be something like 4:1 student-teacher ratio. That's off in fantasyland.

There were less than 100 teachers and staff in spring 2020, and they haven't hired 40% more since then. They were laying people off because the budget was bleeding red ink as students deserted.

Those are verifiable facts from people who were actually on the staff, and info from people still on the staff there now.

But do show me the 141 teachers on the website. That should be easy, right?

I said 6 from 141 staffs left. I never said there were 141 teachers. I said there were 141 staffs, now it’s 135.
So only 6 staffs left, don’t know how many of 6 are teachers.
I am only a parents who can access accurate data from ParentSquare. Their website may not be updated.
I feel like lot of people posted here are lack of basic logic.
If you already left, why don’t you let go?

Because you and the school are lying to people. More than 6 teachers alone have left. Some us know that because we know people at the school, not believing the school's Web resources, which you are already acknowledged are not updated elsewhere, but you believe this one magic source that has nothing to do with reality.

Some people still think honesty matters over marketing rah-rah BS.

Looks like they finally did update their website to scrub everyone who is gone. I counted 27 staff and 61 teachers now; there are no directors at any level, just deans (who are the #2 normally) who are acting as directors since everyone else quit.

The turnover in staff from two years ago is considerable.

Well, lying is a strong word. Perhaps, its better to use Colbert's term "thruthiness". So many are the masters of telling the thruthiness. Indeed, 6 out of 141 stuff is true number. However, the impact of these resignations is dependent on the specific duties of the departed. Let's say if the IT manager or the Director of Academic Programs would leave without advance notice, that would've been a disaster from which would be no recovering. The six are HS and MS Directors and four HS and MS faculty. So, for example, now remaining science teachers should assume additional load of teaching physics, etc. This is not an unrecoverable disaster, bit pretty close to it. Arguably, the cause of this disaster is the new policies of the new HoS.

So the school totally updated their website but they are still hiding almost 50 teachers and staff? You live in cloud cuckooland if you believe that.

Anyone who wants to look on their website now can. the 141 figure is and was a myth.

Good to know. How many students in 9th grade? Do you know how many are new students?

To second this- I’d love to see the numbers for just about any other grade level. Can you provide those? BIM consistently brings in new families but loses current families in hoards each year. Renter ion is just about the worst I’ve seen at any independent school.Would love to see a statistic of how many of the original founding families are still enrolled. You simply cannot look at one grade level as your measure and say the school is doing great.

Similarly, your number about teachers is incorrect- but even if it were correct, two of those staff members were directors. Take a good hard look at the fact that you are arguing for a school that had two directors quit the week before school started and decided if that’s really the stance you want to take. It sounds like your particular student is finding success at BASIS but you cannot ignore what is going on and say it’s not a problem and everything is great. It isn’t the case….

New BIM family here. I found it really weird that there are so many non-BIM family members posting on this thread demanding "truth" on the school website. Why are you so invested or threaten by this small school? Do you check out other school websites and demand the same "truth" too? If you pulled your kids out from BIM, where are your kids now? Do you demand the same "truth" with your current school?

We are demanding the truth for you.

The truth will set you free. You have nothing to lose but your BIM chains.

Comparing to last year, the total student count increases 22%. From 485 to 591. the number of 9th graders increases 34.5%, reaches 40+ the first time.
There are total 83% of previous 8th graders stay for high school. This summer 5 8th graders accepted by TJ, only 1 joined TJ, the other 4 are staying at Basis for high school. This should mean something here.

I never manually count the number of the teachers from the website. I just came across these numbers from the ParentSquare and remembered them.
Maybe the other post was right, the staff number in ParentSquare included some central office staffs.
But the student count is accurate and updated immediately.
There are students names there.

Same here. I really don’t understand why a small, relatively new private schools scares them this much.
Like I said in the other post. To those who posted here constantly, If you already left, good luck with your new adventure and please let go with Basis.

Ridiculous.
I am just a parent, came cross the numbers from ParentSquare and remembered them then shared here.
You said I should not trust the ParentSquare, rather trust the anonymous posts here?
I said the website might be updated. Besides, who has time to count the number from website one by one when there are numbers and names and contacts in ParentSquare?
Why so many people here absurd with this particular school?
If the rival school staff, no need, it’s a small new school.
If the former employee, good luck for your new career and please let go with Basis.
If the current employee, better complain directly.
If the former Basis family, good luck to your new adventure. You are Basis alumni forever.
If the current Basis family, better complain directly or leave instead of trashing this school ridiculously.
What a waste of time. Sigh

This is hilarious, the parade of BIM shills posting rah-rah while turning anything else into some personal fault of anyone who dares question the Grand Crusade.

If you took the 7th grade Logic course at BIM, you would learn why ad hominem attacks are a logical fallacy that only signal the failed arguments of those who go down that path.

Do try to find some distraction that is less obvious if you hope to convince anyone.

One of the many turnovers since 2020 was the social media director at BIM. The replacement comes from China and worked in Japan too.

Makes me wonder about the Asian syntax in so many of the posts here lately. Sure, it could easily be one of the many Chinese parents at the school. But it could also be someone with even more of a vested interest in the rah-rah.

I am the OP. I keep going back and interested and then decide I don’t want to send my kids.

We live in McLean. Basis seems to have a reputation of being very academic and very Asian, almost like a private TJ. This is not what we want for our kids.

We know a few families who switched to Basis and they seem happy there. They are almost all smart Asian kids who weren’t challenged enough in public AAP. They are all kids that would probably have gone to TJ.
