I don't think anyone has argued for grade year that I can remember. Pretty sure the rip the band off comment was a joke. |
The person excited for Aug birthdays to play down in SY also wants GY. Who would have guessed that a small SY cheater would advocate for being a GY super cheater. |
You seem to be confusing what people are telling what the rules will be with advocating. SY is a 12 month window that doesn't include grades as a criteria. Grades would be a leap for clubs and leagues to define, track and police. |
You seem to think that parents on a team a grade below your kid will want you on their team. They wont |
| Haven’t checked this thread in a while. None of this debate matters. If an August kid wants to play at their 12 month window they can. If they want to play “up” and they are a grade older they can. No one is cheating. Anyone worried about this didn’t play as a kid. I was this August kid back in the day when they went to SY from BY in 8th grade and played “up” my junior and senior year. The last many pages are nonsense. The kids will be ok I swear… |
So you're saying you were an Aug birthday back in the day and played down when young. Then played up with your grade when you were older at recruitment age. First I think your story is made up. Second things have changed.Top teams in competitive programs wont allow someone to cheat playing down. There's just too much competiton for roster spots even in the younger ages today. Crazy parents will probably find some off brand club desperate for players that will let them play their kid down just for the money. But they'll lose week after week and be terrible. |
Don't have an August kid. I told you the rules. Beyond say U8, being worried about how other kid's parents feel about you would be odd. |
Crazy talk. |
You doofus its all about minutes, touches, and positions. Parents with the correct grade kids wont want some B team player a grade older playing with their team. |
I can't believe I have to say this but parents don't decide who is on what team. Kids play with other kids and kids don't interact with other kids parents unless they drive the carpool. |
I care zero if you believe me. If you care about this at all you either have a young player and/or never played. Yes I played in my 12 month window 8th-sophomore year…just like January kids do now and then played the older 12 month window my junior and senior year. For the record, my son is U16 September 2010 and I was not in favor of this change for I want him to play with the oldest kids possible for as long as possible. It makes him better and all Q1-Q2 parents should look forward to their kids now being able to play older kids regularly. This debate is nonsense… |
Let me know when you find a top team that tried to get kids recruited under BY while forcing Jan-Aug to play up to create grade like teams around U16. Until then, you are just muttering in the wind. |
| What are you babbling about idiot? Clubs won't care at all about your school grade. |
|
The real MLSN Academies will stay BY and play up. Everyone else will be 8/1.
Which ones are the "real" ones? Homegrown? How many MLSN levels are there and what's the hierarchy? |

Playing for more than 12 months range is playing down. It is a 12-month age group regardless of your grade.
Playing down is for losers. Everyone should play in their correct age group. When you cannot, you are a loser in most players' opinions. |
