"She's going to go through some things" has to be the most glossed-over threat out there. Of course she felt threatened. It's positively terrifying, and I can't begin to imagine how she feels walking around looking over her shoulder. What on earth could DJT have meant other than something threatening.... |
From ABC News: House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff says House Democrats will release transcripts from Kurt Volker and Gordon Sondland tomorrow. |
I listened to some podcasts this weekend on impeachment. Both moderate right and moderate left.
All of those speaking agreed that this Senate would not convict and remove. They seemed very clear and unequivocal on the point; but that impeachment must be done for history. What the ultimate eff will this autocrat do to destroy our country between now and then? |
What happened to the thread on the impeachment and the expiring continuing resolution? I am now all worried about a shutdown again... but longer this time. |
Such a dumb more by Democrats to go for impeachment.
Check out what Willie Brown says: https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/williesworld/article/Impeachment-a-winner-for-Democrats-Don-t-bet-14803559.php Totally asinine. Pelosi, who is politically astute, knew it was a dumb move but she felt cornered by the loony left who will be the downfall of the Democratic party. |
I think Pelosi thought Republicans would come to their senses but no, they stand behind the crooked PoS Trump. Sad! |
I agree. This is outrageous. |
There are still some wildcards out there. When SDNY indicts Giuliani for crimes he committed for Trump, what effect will that have? Will Sondland and the others whose testimony was refuted by the NSC witnesses correct their perjuries or risk taking the fall for Trump? |
Pelosi is way too shrewd to have thought that it would be anything other than a partisan exercise. No, she lost control of the process and was railroaded by the loons on the left. |
IMO, the only wildcard is if Trump's tax returns has something seriously damaging and the Supreme Court rules that the returns need to be made available to the SDNY. We may not get a ruling on this until well into next year. |
No, the mad man in the oval needs to be reminded that we have laws and he’s subject to them, too. There are co-equal branches; he is not a king. |
People of integrity. Pity they are do few. And unsurprising that you would call them loony. Look in the mirror. |
If we lose the election and analysis shows that part of the reason was the reaction to the impeachment in the swing states, I hope you will recognize that reality and not rant about racism and deplorables. Yes, I am a Democrat and I think this impeachment exercise is asinine. Trump will be acquitted in the Senate and will claim victory and will say it was a totally partisan move to damage him ........ and that message will likely get through to some independent voters. Of course, you can then rant about uneducated Trump supporters who are traitors, etc. |
I'm sorry you feel that winning an election is more important the preserving our system of government. What is the point of winning an election if we allow a dictator to set the precedents he is trying to set unchecked? |
We should all be prepared to lose an election to stand for our principles. There is absolutely no question at all that impeachment is the right thing to do. It is for the history books. Four more years of Trump and some judge appointments do not have the same weight. It's amazing how people cannot look past their own little immediate interests. Taking a stand for the integrity of the Republic is far more important than you or me, PP. |
