Snow day

Exactly! Friend is tell us how icy the sidewalk are. Ok…the same sidewalk the kid walked up and down all day to go to the sledding hill where they flew down on ice dodging trees.

Wow you really are moronic and the PP who says they are a teacher is lying or even more moronic. We all know that busses and unplowed roads is the concern. Just because your street is plowed does not mean all the rest are.

The kids are happy they won't have to risk their lives on a bus and icy roads.

Again, hug your children. Spend this time with them. You won't live forever. And for some of you, you will outlive your child.

This is a gift to you both.

I spend enough time with my kids thank you very much. We plan time! I need my kid who struggles with academics to learn so he will graduate and not live with me forever. If you want productive citizens get these kids to school!

I’m sorry not all streets are plowed. I don’t think that the kids should stay home because a few have piles of snow. Ugh! If you think it is unsafe and are worried keep them home. You want to punish all the kids for your kids safety. Let me be the judge.

Our neighborhood and school is fine.

I don’t see them going back before March

I mean it’s not going to melt next week so using Dr Reid’s logic there’s no way they could reopen

FCPS is responsible for school parking lots. The County is responsible for the rec center lot. So of course they are plowed at different times. Just like you and your neighbors shoveled your driveways at different times.

Also, the state (VDOT) is responsible for roads. No one is responsible for sidewalks.

Nope.

We are supposed to wait for government to handle all problems.

Anonymous wrote:This is beside the point, but does FCPS really have 45,000 bus stops like her statement says?

There are 180,000 students (some of whom are siblings and/or share an address). Some of them are walkers but many ride buses. FCPS has the 7th largest bus fleet in the nation and 2nd highest ridership numbers.

FCPS continues to be bad at math. 180,000 students divided by 45,000 bus stops gives you 4 kids per bus stop.

In what world does that make sense.

My kid has two at their bus stop...not sure I'm following your "thoughts" here

Are you in McLean?

But with the current conditions (which I agree are bad on some side streets), and the weather not changing to mid-40s+ and/or rain to melt the ice … there is no way to open in the foreseeable future and that is the problem.

why is it a problem?

virtual learning will have to kick in if we are in a longer term of not being able to physically go to school in the buildings.

learning will prevail.

Will it be closed on Friday? I don't see tomorrow changing anything. If so, this is terrible.

I am sorry your kids have to spend time with you. You probably aren't gonna be satisfied when virtual learning kicks in. That is learning. Oh no, but your child needs to be in school.
