Kane went from the 3rd highest rated in DC to fourth (Steve Harvey passed him). The interesting thing in the DC ratings was that WHUR (Urban AC) jumped from a 4.8 to a 6.1 (3rd place) share of the market and WMMJ (Urban AC) went from a 3.9 to a 4.7 (6th place). Hot 99.5 dropped from a 5.3 to a 5.1 (5th place). The show hasn't seen a major impact in the ratings since Danni's departure but it will be interesting to see if they can get back in the top 3.

I think dropping out of the "top 3 in the DC Metro" is pretty significant. The show SUCKS right now and I've switched to Russ Parr. I don't care to relieve the 90s r&b music constantly, but I like Russ and his team. Anyway, I'm sure Kane watches these ratings very closely and he's got to be affected by dropping to 5th place. I think they might continue to drop in ratings because the show isn't good right now. Kane is creepy and passive aggressive with his not so subtle digs at Natasha. IJ's voice is hard to listen to. And Rose...

Those ratings for the 6+ age bracket, which is usually the only ones that go public.

The thing with the DC area is there are too many stations that have the same format, so the next step is DJ's in terms of whether you like hearing them or not. In the case of morning shows, it is about content and chemistry.

WHIT is the only top 40 formatted station in dc. The most popular format in DC is Adult Contemporary (Hot, Urban and Rhythmic). Morning shows want overall numbers and ratings from a specific age range. The Kane Show likely targets the (18-34) and (18-49) demographics as their target audience. Considering all the stations around them with the highest ratings, I'd venture to say they don't have much competition in the (18-34) demo. They likely saw some drop in their (18-49) numbers because stations like WASH-FM, WMMJ and WHUR all likely target that demo and have gone up in the ratings recently.

To the person that thinks the name is stupid, are you new to radio? DJ's use creative names all the time, it allows the audience to get to remember them easily.

http://reedcollegeofmedia.wvu.edu/people/elizabethany_ploger

its her real name.

I like elizabethany, she's upbeat (her show is definitely more geared to a younger audience, but whatever) and low drama. She also seems to hustle based on the article above, can't knock that. That being said, I truly hope she doesn't get involved in the Kane show.

Kane has mentioned before she got her start in radio as an intern for the show. That said, since it is a beginner job, most of the night DJs (Julian, Kruz) from 99.5 have seemed to move elsewhere after a few years and established their own show in a prime slot (mornings or afternoons).

A beginner job? A night show in the #7 market in the country is not a beginner job. Like someone previously stated, Elizabethanny worked her way up to the job. Also Kruz left Hot to be APD in Baltimore. He went to a lower market, #21, but now he's during a drive that's more listened to and he has more responsibilities as APD. Like someone said earlier, I don't think EB is gonna leave unless Chicago, LA, or NYC comes knocking.

Also yeah WIHT is the only top 40 station in DC and i think that's what's really helping TKS. Though as time goes on and more people in that demo goes to podcasts I think they will see more dips in ratings. It's weird though that there's only 1 top 40 station in DC. Where I live we have 3 and I know there are some big markets out there with at least 2.

IMO Elizabethanny going back to TKS would be a step down.

Kane was rude to Iggy Azalea this AM. he mentioned she was late at least 4 times. He's not a big star, he's gotta watch himself.

I could be wrong, but isn't morning drive the most expensive from an advertisers perspective? If so, that is a pay jump for her.

I do agree that because of the way that show is, it would be a step down, but financially, it would be beneficial to her.

Regarding radio formats, you were right about 99.5 being the only top 40 (or going by this chart, a contemporary hits station: http://dcrtv.com/mediaw5a.html), but if you listen to the stations that play similar music, you will realize that you are not missing much between them.

Yes, the morning drive is pretty much how a radio DJ can go from making piss poor money to actually being able to live, especially if the morning show is syndicated, like TKS. I just don't ever see EB doing that though. The nights is where she rocks and shines. The fact that she does nights on multiple stations and she's made a name for herself and still making that name. I just don't think she'd make that jump. Plus something tells me she's doing pretty ok finance-wise.

He struggles with anxiety/OCD/ADHD and is definitely showing some side effects of meds, plus he is not a healthy weight and he is under enormous emotional stress. She has her physical issues and seems to be on the depressive side. Both love the girls, but I suspect can't help but show their pain. Money is being spent up the wazoo to keep that over million dollar home and Kane's separate residence. I feel like I am watching a crash in slow motion.

No matter how much they hate and resent eachother, why would you want to destroy a parent of your children? I don't know what I a complete stranger hope-maybe that they all (kids included) have good therapists? At first it seemed popcorn worthy, now it is all too depressing to think about and I am afraid one of them is going to end up in the hospital either for physical reasons or mental health.

Honestly I have not thought about it that much, surprised anyone has. I check in here during down time and to catch up on things but I certainly don't feel like "I am watching a crash is slow motion". that's overly dramatic.

I truly hope they get back together they both have issues , but who doesn't? We all do. Couples need to communicate and learn to work things out. I have hope for the both of them.

I actually found it refreshing, I don't like when they're on the metaphorical nuts of celebrity guests.

Top 40 stations really only play the most popular current tracks on the Hot 100 (usually the top 60). Sometimes they throw in "Heat Seeker" tracks that are generating a lot of buzz but haven't yet cracked the Hot 100. On the weekends they mix in some older hits but not much. The Adult Contemporary stations play a lot of the top 40 but they also play a lot of recent classics. They are similar in the sense that they both don't really play very many hip hop or rock songs even if they're in the top 40. The only time rock or hip-hop songs get airplay are if they have somewhat of a "pop" feeling sound to them. Hot 99.5 definitely benefits from being the only Top 40 station in DC. They dominate the market for people under 25.
