None of the other local morning shows have fake bits...they just rely on their own wit to entertain people.

Every morning show I've ever listened to (I'm in the Tampa market) has had fake bits. The old MJ Morning Show had the crotchety old man bits. Hot 101.5 has the Loser Line. It's called entertainment.

Fellow DC-ers, correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any other DC morning show that does fake bits?

I'm gonna have to agree that Florida is not the brightest bulb. Honestly half the moron madness stories are from Florida and out of my two sets of cousins, all three of my Florida cousins have not managed to finish a college degree; one barely finished high school even with an extra year and summer school, one had an accidental pregnancy, and one is an alcoholic. Not AT ALL saying everyone in Florida is stupid. Seriously not sure why people are getting offended by this. Just saying that there are a lot of stupid people in Florida. For sure not the stupidest state.

Honest question. To the people annoyed that there are scripted bits, what is your main issue with it? We watch sitcoms, movies, etc and those are fake. Why does a small segment on a radio station get you riled up? If they tried to do real bits they would be incredibly boring and people would have to consent. Aren't we listening to radio to be entertained? Allow yourself to be entertained. If it is fake people are upset. If it's real, it's boring, people are upset. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

They are entertainers. They should be able to carry a show with good conversation, engaging listeners in call-ins/discussions, creating vignettes out of items in the news and real-life experiences. They do this in some respects, but then they supplement with these horrendous fake bits that undermine the credibility of the show. I guess some people eat them up.

You can't compare apples to oranges with sitcoms vs. radio. Nobody on the sitcom is trying to pass it off as real.
