The kids were doing the chants and jumping around before the indigenous people came to them and starting beating the drum and insulting them. Why would you expect them to stop what they were doing when they suddenly arrived? .. |
Nobody supports death threats. But the boys were being rude, racist and aggressive and there should be consequences. Like I do for my kids, if you can't just admit it and apologize ... the punishment is doubled. |
He did walked away when his bus arrived. He DID NOT do war whoops, tomahawk chips and he did not rip off your shirt. What are you smoking? |
| His peers did, you idiot. They all are at fault. |
And maybe you’re a Russian troll stirring the pot. Maybe that’s how the video went viral so fast. |
They should have never acted that way. It's an embarrassment to all Catholics. Tearing your shirt off, really? But once the group was marching they should make room for them, most boys just moved as they came through except for the smirk heard around the world. They don't own the steps of the Lincoln memorial. If other groups approach make room. It's not complicated. |
| Well I have little respect for Nathan Phillips after he decided to protest against the church of these children right after this incident. I still don't think what the kids did was right and still feel bad for how Native Americans have been treated, but he's not helping his cause at all. |
Nyet Just a Catholic sick of our community making a fool of themselves. |
|
The Natice Americans did not insult the Covington kids. TRe disrespect was only one-sided.
The Parkland kids were the victims of a massive tragedy. EHy should they have been attacked. I’m so concerned by the numbers acting like those Covington kids were innocent. They behaved atrociously and should have consequences from their school, their church and their parents. Instead they get interviews, crisis management firms and white people claiming they are angels. |
Lots on the left supported the death threats and threats of violence. |
You must have missed the part where they were telling them to go back to europe and they were being "white" with a lot of profanity. |
The same can be said of the Conservatives after Parkland and Sandy Hook. And children died in those events. There will always be extreme opinions about issues. But in the case of CC- they are being used by the Catholic Church and the GOP to fuel conservative outrage. Those kids were obnoxious and arrogant. They will most likely suffer zero consequences other than having their school be marked as a place not to accept students from for college. Should be fun to explain the tuition expense to the parents. |
So, approaching someone and playing a drum right into your face is not an insult? You are totally OK if someone invade your space that way and keep drumming into your face? |
Both side have lunatic extremists, both of those groups are wrong. The Covington community needs a reboot. The need to stop acting like Animal House. Their chant is embarrassing and aggressive. They need to learn not to make fun of other religions, other's prays, the tomahawk chop, the black face, cat calling girls. They need a little more preparation for protesters that have the freedom to speak even when the speech is ugly... black isrealites, white supremists, West borough baptisms. Yes they have the freedom to speak too. As much as we all hate it: All of it needs education and correction. |
Why should the Covington students move out of the way for Nathan Phillips. Watch the video. If he wanted to march up the steps there was plenty of space for him to easily have walked around the kids waiting for the bus. Just like the Covington students don't own the steps neither does Nathan Phillips. It's public space. He chose to walk into the crowd when he easily could have walked around them if he wasn't looking for an altercation. The Covington students are under no obligation to disperse from a public area to accommodate a handful of professional dissidents when there is plenty of space available for them to go around. Besides, let's be honest for 1 second, that's not what Phillips wanted to begin with anyway. |
