Is anyone else mad at China? All this death and suffering because of unsanitary markets that should have been shut down after SARS. Plus initial government dishonesty.

Just seems so unnecessary .

I am.

Omg me too. F^ck China and their dirty meat markets.

Yeah DH and I were just talking about this. I’m not upset with the Chinese people. If anything, I feel bad for them. I’m so angry at the awful Chinese government. They knew these markets were a breeding ground for new viruses and did nothing to regulate or shut them down even though we’ve had close calls before. And they weren’t immediately honest with the rest of the world causing us to lose precious time preparing elsewhere. Once this is all over, I hope the rest of the world demands they become a better global citizen, and frankly we need to stop relying on them for the import of so many goods. Sure, we’ve gotten a lot of things for cheap, but it comes at the expense of a vulnerable supply chain for important things like medicines.

TRUE!

SO TRUE..

The markets were banned and now they've taken stronger measures:

And they were able to take extreme measures to limit the spread - they did buy the rest of the world some time. Too bad the US squandered that time.

Thank you! Yes I am mad at China. Also this acts a lot like a bio weapon that got loose. Now we are praising them because so many people died off over there? But politics and our dependence on cheap stuff from China ...

And now the us is blamed

It's astounding that anyone gives them a mouthpiece. That it's media is shameful.

Well we give Trump a mouthpiece so it seems our standards are not that high...

This interview with NY Times reporter explains how China got control of it: fever clinics, testing, quarantines, not sending people home to infect their family and friends

New Jersey officials announced Friday the state has 21 new coronavirus cases, increasing the statewide total to 50 positive tests as the outbreak continues to spread, forcing widespread closures and cancellations.

... There are 80 cases under investigation at New Jersey’s state lab, said state Health Commissioner Judith Persichelli. New Jersey now has cases in 13 of 21 counties with one death, a 69-year-old man from Bergen County.

“There have been no new deaths of a confirmed case," Persichelli said. “There is one that they are tracking at this time.”

The poor man from Bergen County apparently had three existing chronic health conditions.

Are the private labs and university labs all reporting to a central agency? How will be know what the accurate aggregate numbers are?

How to get others to take this seriously and not have play dates, teens group up, etc? We are taking this very seriously, others not so much.

Husband works at Capital One in Tysons. Someone in his building tested positive. Heads up.

Set the example. Friend wanted to meet for coffee, I suggested a walk instead. Teens are allowed to have no more than two friends over and sit outside or apart. We are allowing unlimited use of the firepit. Thank god for the good weather.

Yikes, mostly warm weather countries. I guess we'll see now how the virus might behave when summer comes.
