Now the guy who wanted a SY "hard 365 day eligibility cutoff" wants to change it to a 14 month window so he can slip in GY.

Sorry nobody wants you around. Go cheat somewhere else.

MLS has 24 month window, so you can cheat there.

Its a differnet end goal..

MLSN = Pro and College is a by product
ECNL (and other leagues) = College

What this means is that because MLSN is looking to find pro players biobanders dont matter. In fact they're probabaly hurting their opportunity at playing pro by biobanding.

If that was true they wouldn’t have took the idea from euro clubs, ECNL for college means being by grade is what matters.

Will ECNL actually go with GY showcases? I doubt it but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

You can keep saying it but it wont happen.

As has been highlighted by multiple posters nobody wants GY in club soccer. Go cheat in HS.

ECNL has already said they are definitely doing GY for seniors. So technically they are offering GY. Will it be for multiple grades or just one…. We will see.

Instead of making ominous "We will see" statements just look on the ECNL website before you comment.

ECNL already does u18/u19 as a single grouping . Which allows Seniors to all play on the same team.

Read 2.9 (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tCH0V7ifsl0Fm_KI9_HY8Z9Jnchd332j/edit) - it is very clear that if you are in 11th grade but technically U18 (thus in the U18/U19) that you can play U17. And then in 12th grade it's grad year at U18/U19 anyway. It is not cheating if it is in the rules, just like so many other things the "cheater" crowd keeps complaining about. Unless you are faking a BC or something similar, it's not cheating. And learn to spell.

Hahaha you keep trying to spin things. So pathetic.

What you're quoting are current Trapped Player accommodations. These were implemeted so under BY Trapped Players don't get screwed. Again, once ECNL switches from BY to SY the Trapped Player accommodation rules will be removed this is because 99% of trapped players have been addressed. How are you not understanding this?

So your argument is that they will take this away and any June or July kids won't be able to play anymore? So a more narrow group and they will take it away? That seems, like most other things you have posted, monumentally naive or just stupidly angry (or both).

The rule will be removed because the Trapped Players under BY were within the 365 day eligibility window.

In SY if there are June/July starts (never heard of a June start and btw July starts at .001% of the total) they are outside of the 365 day eligibility window.

Learn to read a calendar.

I can only imagine what job you do, can't be anything that requires any intellectual rigor or facts:

Nationally, around 4–6% of all U.S. kindergarten-age children are redshirted.

But among summer-born kids (June–August), the rate is much higher:

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, 2015): About 20% of summer-born boys and 13% of summer-born girls were held back a year.

Harvard / Brookings studies: Roughly 1 in 5 summer-born children (≈ 20%) delay kindergarten, compared to < 5% of fall/spring-born children.

This means:

80–85% of July/August-born children start kindergarten at age 5 (on time).

15–20% start at age 6 (delayed entry).

Why stop at just June/July?? It appears that about .5% of kids delay K start by 6 months or more. I think we need to allow them to play with their current grade as well. So lets make the exception window at least 12 months just to make sure we dont miss anyone so they can be up to 24 months older than the kids they are playing against!

/s (just in case Mr/Mrs analytics doesn’t understand sarcasm)

The point, morons, is that nobody is doing this for cheating and certainly almost nobody is doing this for soccer. The data illiteracy and ignorance about how the world works is unbelievable on this forum. Cleary many people that should have repeated multiple grades in school and as such are frustrated that they can't get a job as a barista.

Your kid is welcome to play on a club team with players their age.

Why are you so intent on cheating?

Wish casting again?

This is what you want but ECNL and other leagues have not hinted that its ever going to happen. Theres just no reason to do GY now that leagues are changing from BY to SY. The stupid hold backs can play on a club team with players their age. Then Senior year ECNL allows u18/u19 to play together on the same team.

On top of everything else clubs make more money not doing GY because players will stay engaged at their age grouping for longer if older players aren't playing down.

Is anyone talking to other parents that have no idea this is all going on?? I talked to someone who was insisting that they couldn’t change the age date and it was illegal…. Wow!

Are there people that aren't on social media or message boards for youth sports yes! Given that clubs really should start advertising the change and their plans.

It depends on when parents kids were born. If Jan-July and their kid is a starter nothing will probabaly change for them. So why worry about it.

Older teams probabaly won't change that much either. If they're winning.

Just because your Montessori school convinced you Sally wasnt ready for the real world and that you should keep her there, for another 14K, one more year, doesnt mean your kid should get special treatment in club soccer…………

Your logical fallacy argument style would actually indicate the only moron on this string might be you………

Not OP or GY guy, but why do you think this is cheating? Do you not understand the point of showcases? They have absolutely nothing to do with winning or losing, so what exactly is the cheating occurring if they are organized by GY?

Further, the college coaches (who are the real customers of these showcases) want to see the players by GY.

And newsflash, college coaches do their recruiting by GY and what they need to fill their roster each year. So if you Janie or Sally is a Class of 2027 and a 2009 birthday, and there is a 2008 July birthday, whose parents held her back and she is a Class of 2027 also - she is your child's competition for a college roster spot.

Newsflash 99.9% of players will be the correct grade after switching from BY to SY. Also I 100% understand that ECNL showcase results determine wildcards. (doesnt sound like you do through)

Stupid hold backs are welcome to play with their age.

I understand that but there aren't wildcards anymore (at least on the girls side) there is a fixed number of slots in Champions League for each conference earned by conference results only.
