Will HS MA teams have less games or play teams twice?

There will still be 13 teams after the net loss of 2, so don't see teams playing each other twice. The division might go from 8 playoff spots to 7 and some clubs will probably add another ECNL event or showcase to pick up more matches, but that's probably it.

I would really like to see the MA merge in the MD teams from the North Atlantic division and send Charlotte and Wilmington to the SE and the remaining NA teams to the NE. That would form a pretty strong division going from Baltimore to Raleigh. Raliegh might balk at the additional travel to Baltimore vs Charlotte and Wilmington but would be better for the rest of us.

MD has different high school season from VA/NC. That would make scheduling a lot harder

Yeah that's true. I wonder if having separate conferences for boys vs girls is be feasible. Reduced travel really would be a selling point for ECNL. MLSN gets the boys more exposure to the academies but you still have significant travel to play mediocre teams.

Only the 2010s qualified for Champions League playoffs. Others just made the expanded showcases. If they end up in a conference with NC/SC/TN, they'll be at the top and in Champions Cup of GA in most age groups.

With the GA additions here though, my money is on a VA/NC conference similar to ECNL as it would match up so much better with HS seasons versus playing GA with MD/PA teams.

Will the expanded showcases in San Diego offer the same exposure as champions league or do the coaches make the trip out to San Diego to watch the top 32 teams for 2008 & 2009?

You don't have to guess or bet, this has been said many times on the various threads. The South Atlantic conference will contain the VA and NC teams because both states play spring HS soccer.

Makes sense, no scouts go to the games outside of Champions League while in San Diego so it’s no man’s land. If that’s correct, then the switch to GA makes total sense.

personally I am hoping my kids club doesnt make it to a new fancy league. Joined the club because it was smaller and they cared about the kids. If they move, who knows?

Listen. I told y’all this was happening pages ago and people accused me of spreading false rumors so I kept to myself. Now you have the actual announcement.

CISC move was all about boys and MLSNext. They basically told their senior girls last night - we know this sucks and we are screwing you, but 70% of our paying customers are boys and so we are going to do what is best for them.

So when BSC falls, maybe then people will realize that things are changing.
