Trump tariffs: ruin U.S. economy until 2040

You can’t be serious. I doubt you’ve been grocery shopping.

So he's going to go before SCOTUS and argue that kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities are national security? I don't know how even MAGA can still support this moron.

People can live without new upholstered furniture for 3 years, or repair used trucks to postpone replacement by as long as possible. But there are many people on branded pharmaceuticals because there is no generic, or because the generic doesn't work for them as well or causes allergies (for expensive meds, I'd think that few working class people and insurance companies voluntarily pay for the brand name). With a 100% tariff, won't they have to transition to worse drugs or surgery, or simply go without - which will not only lower their quality of life, perhaps permanently, but also increase health care costs?

Yes, and someone who works in drug manufacturing he is screwing consumers on both ends because while he is trying to incentivize companies to move manufacturing to the US he is also taxing/placing tariffs on a lot of the materials that go into manufacturing. So things that are already manufactured here will cost even more to produce. I saw it last week when I ordered something that is already very expensive and then had an additional $3k tariff surcharge. And this was just one needed material.

There tariff will hurt consumers and medical research.

He’s scraping the barrel on distractions from Epstein. We’re going to be in straw shoes by the time he’s finished.

A person close to the administration said it was “ruffled” and “completely caught off guard,” by the outcry from soybean farmers warning of the potential for financial ruin. That prompted a rush to brief senior officials as well as the president in recent weeks. “There was an information gap. But that was a learning opportunity,” said the person, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly.

This is what happens when you vote for people who have no experience in government and no education in how to run a government. Worse when it's someone who thinks a government can or should be run like a for profit company that uses bankruptcy, fraud, and lawsuits as business strategies.

This. This story would be an embarrassment to any normal administration. Get caught off guard by one of your most important constituencies? Over problems your policies created? Unfortunately for farmers, too many of Trump's advisers are looking for their own get rich quick schemes to be bothered with things like policy or governance.
