And that’s the difference, most cant afford college tuition for their DDs, so they are hell bent to scream scholarship and how dare you go to pay when you can go to a college that might not fit the Bill just to save money. Well there you go, he can afford it. Problem solved. |
Oh I think you can but is it wise? I have an engineering major on my hands. I have to look out for my player and I would discourage D1 commitment with the academic plans she is contemplating. We turned down a D1 offer and I think it was the right decision. If your players wants to tackle both at once than that is fine. I would never disparage that if she can handle it. Again, good luck. |

"VT may be a Top 25 girls soccer school but it’s not close on school rankings."
Yes, actually VT is close. In fact it ranked quite highly in certain fields of study, and those fields of study pay more starting salary than G'town. Yes, if my kid is going to Law school, or wants to study public policy, or getting an MBA G'town is a superior choice, but for Technology and Engineering it is Tech. So it is not as simple as you make it seem. Back to the FCV debate. The poster that talks about players playing at the highest levels in college. Who cares? The whole point is to get your kid the best education they can get possibly for less money. Soccer is a means to an end, except those that want/can go pro in a significant (re: European) league. If they are that good, they shouldn't be going to a U.S. college anyhow. It's off to the pro club and they'll get their college degree on the side. If not Europe, they'll end up making more $$$ as a college grad in their field of study. Especially in the DC metro area. |
Who is “we” |
You seem like a smart person. Look at the roster and tell me how many engineers in training you see. |
| And by the way never ever ever put Tech next to GTown when it comes to name recognition. Not close |
|
Majoring is human nutrition, foods and exercise.
Majoring in interior design These are the majors you see. Let’s be honest. The real money makers will be the academic athletes |
| let go of your kids please. |
Tech would be your first choice for engineering? What about MIT, Stanford, Caltech, CMU, GT? Getting car jacked in Georgetown? This is some FCV mom nonsense. Keep trying to justify your poor life decisions. |
e
I am sure there are several on all of these teams. Who the heck do think is funding all this deluxe club youth soccer? The families that can afford it are educated professionals and are steering their kid to do the same. |
This! It doesn’t matter what league FCV is in! We do placement like no other lazy club in the area. VT? Easy, Bobby sends 1 text. Georgetown? Bobby sends 1 email. UVA? Bobby makes 1 call. No other club can do this. They are all cash grabs for ignorant parents |
Seriously. The posters in here are why the coaches insist on checking out the families before they will sign a player. |
We don’t need your DD, go enjoy losing at VDA. |
Bold statement, pretty sure, FCV dad the only losing team against VDA was FCV (When finally they played them). I also am pretty sure VDA won’t be losing very much in the near future and that on all levels. 03/04 stacked, 05 stacked, 06 stacked, 07 stacked and 08 stacked. Prediction? Not that they won’t have moments but those teams will dominated the DMV. My DD is going to McLean, however it appears those teams will have all top players from the DMV merging together and it will be exciting to see what they will do together. |
Again, who is “we”. |
