For all the DCUMers who think Dynamite is an accurate representation of BTS

Looking forward to the BBMAs and the full choreography.

When is the BBMA’s? Is that their first live performance of Butter?

NP. Billboard Music Awards. They are tomorrow night at 8pm but no doubt they will be leaving the BTS performance towards the very end to keep the audience numbers up, as they did at the grammys. Although if you want to see them, you can watch the pre-awards show red carpet coverage and they will probably have them streaming in from Korea.

They also did a number of interviews and a press conference yesterday for Butter if you are wanting fresh content from them.

I’m the one that didn’t like it the first time. I’m enjoying it today. The elevator part of the song is great because the music changes. Jimin is so slick.

The song is too short though. It’s easy to put it on repeat because it’s that short.

Is it playing on the radio today? I know it’s trending #1 on YouTube and Spotify but they generally get less play on the radio than they should.

It is playing on the radio, way more than Dynamite! It is currently #30 on radio play, and that's after one day only. For context, only 3 songs in the hundred year history debuted at #1 on radio play, so it's totally standard and normal to work up to #1 status. Also, Dynamite received no radio play at all on the first day it debuted, and moved up to #36 after a few days. So this is a really huge debut. (Hilariously, Life Goes On only had 6 radio plays total, obviously because it's all in Korean).

So anyway... this is looking like it's going to be the biggest hit yet. The tune is catchy and infectious, I think even the people who are very opposed to K-Pop wont be able to deny dancing to it. It was also co-written by the Columbia Records chairman, who has made a string of top hits, so they are really bringing out the big guns with this. I think it's just the most perfect pop song.

It’s the best distraction in a really terrible world right now.

I feel like it took Dynamite weeks to get any radio play, but I did hear it eventually. Interestingly enough, I also about flew out of my seat in shock when I happened to have 99.5 on in my car for a brief trip to the gas station (I usually just use Spotify on my phone) and heard Loona’s English song. This was a few months ago.

Yes, it was totally a slow start. I would have my radio on for an hour drive and never heard it played around here. I moved here from LA awhile ago and wondered if maybe it would be played more there because they have more of a diverse music selection and also a high eastern asian population, though I never found out whether that was true or not. I did notice it played more towards the end of summer/fall, once the galaxy ads started getting played. Often I would play dynamite for friends, introducing them to BTS, and they would be like "Oh, that's the song from the Galaxy ads," which i found pretty funny. Had no idea those commercials would be so influential! (Which also bodes well for Butter considering BTS is doing the collab with McDonalds this summer, and will presumably be played on ads in a few days)

For context Dynamite opened with 7 million streams, so this is a huge improvement.

My favorite choreography is still Boy with Luv. That opening!
I think it was created by Quick Crew who are really talented.

QuickCrew did choreo for Butter as well! So get ready for the BBMAs where we will get to see the whole thing. I loved Boy with Luv choreo too (that opening!!) but I have high hopes for Butter from the glances we got from the MV. I love the little tip-toeing move they do during the chorus....
