+1 Wootton is not special. Sorry. Yes, diversity has been one of the four factors for many many years. When they redraw the boundaries, diversity will be taken into consideration, as they have been doing for many many years. If your kid takes a 5min bus ride to Wootton now, and then later, takes a 5min bus ride to Crown, that's not any different in terms of proximity/geography. If that also increases diversity in both schools, then two of the four factors have been met. MCPS should have redrawn the boundaries years ago. |
I’m very curious what HS cluster Fallsgrove will end up in.
Fallsgrove currently belongs to RM but Wooton is much closer. |
It has been a factor for a while but back in 2018 a few members of the BOE claimed that makingnthe schools more diverse was the most important thing MCPS could do for the students so they altered the boundary policy to add language making diversity more prominent than the other 3 factors. While kids who love near the new Crown site should attend Crown, people should be prepared for other kids to be bused to schools that need white and Asian kids to balance diversity in those achools. |
None of that is etched in stone. The BOE could decide to conduct a multi-cluster boundary study with 8 to 12 clusters encompassing Crown and Woodward. Or it could decide to do a district wide boundary study like they wanted to in 2020 with these two schools as cover and move a lot of boundaries. If they do that there are going to be tens of thousands of families who will be unhappy when their kids bused all around the county. |
Perhaps you did t hear bit, according to the boundary analysis, 90+ % of MoCo supports neighborhood schools. Conversely, only a small % of MoCo said diversity was important to them. |
I've got even worse news for you. If your kids take a bus to school, a pro-busing element in the BOE thinks your kids are fair game to be bused to a school that needs more white and Asian kids. The ironic part is that you might not even be white or Asian but if your neighborhood predominantly is, away they'll go. |
You mean like the MS13 stabbing at Blair the other day? I agree. |
Or they might take a bus 6 miles in yet another direction if a school there needs more kids who look like PP's kids to balance the diversity of that school. |
Which means the majority of every cluster is fair game for busing. You're starting to understand now! |
Busing, that's how. |
PP should worry that they will bus her kids 20 minutes to Gaithersburg to whiten that place up. |
Yes. With so much uncertainty, it will impact the economy of this county and we’ll continue seeing it decline while NOVA is booming |
Crown would be a likely place for Fallsgrove. |
Sure, we know, this is your recurring fever dream, but it is not reality. It would be so much better if you would actually read the new CIP, if you would listen to current board members and staffers speak at meetings happening in 2021, instead of obsessing about what former members said in 2018. |
But they're already being bused. |
