There ABSOLUTELY is communities telling their kids not to focus on school or value education. In many communities, being studious means you’re “nerdy,” “goody two-shoes,” and I could go on. Where I grew up, you’d (and did) get made fun of if you wanted to study at lunch, read a book, or *gasp* like math class. And there are definitely communities that think going away to college means you think you’re better than everyone else. After all, you’re leaving your community behind. And they do not value the investment of college. “Why go into debt when you can just get a job and not be in debt?” I suggest you read Hillbilly Elegy. I attended public schools that were 88% FARMS, majority AA/Hispanic. |
| *absolutely are |
agree with you 100% it's the complete opposite of this idioic racism first poster. |
Absolutely agree. My dad, white, grew up in a community like that where there was no respect for education. He was mocked for working hard and for working double shifts so he could pay his own way through college. This is a social issue that affects all races and ethnicities. |
I tried that already. They were removed. The movement in the world today is to push a narrative at the expense of all else, including the truth. |
| I mean, I have relatives (white) who smoke cigarettes, juul, curse, and scream IN their houses in front of their kids. So maybe that affects kids’ outcomes! |

| It’s no wonder the best selling item online is the big blue Trump 2020 flag with the No More Bullshit line on the bottom. |
Is this true?? Surely not. |
No it isn't true. What is a top seller though is Mary Trumps book.
|
Well that is equally as stupid. |

Money, power and greed. Many people feel its up for grabs to remake America in their personal (unresearched) ideology.
But it’s still about power and influence, not at all freedom, liberty and choice. Many America will no longer have that soon, and go the socialist, big Gov’t direction. That’ll stop skilled immigration fast. Same thing through the ages, every country and society. |
The reason I reject this book is I dislike crazy, stupid, dangerous propaganda, not because I just prefer mine conservative-flavored instead. A pox on both their houses. |
| Also, poor minorities usually have fewer educated role models. How do you know you want to be an engineering PhD (what I hear my middle schoolers’ friends say) when you’ve literally never met an engineer? |
Nope. When I was growing up in the 80s the out of wedlock birth rate in the black community was lower than it is now. As for skills, education, and earning capability, the black community was and is disproportionately harmed by illegal immigration, which was encouraged and tolerated as working class black people pressed for safer working conditions and better pay. Barbara Boxer warned about this years ago. Sending factory jobs overseas didn't help either. Racist policies pushed largely by Democrats, but as long as people get welfare it's supposed to be a net positive. No. Joe Biden's mass incarceration mania was also detrimental. |
