another angry post. Calm down! GA exists because us soccer sucks and GA formed to take the place of what the disgrace of our national soccer governing body left. It couldn’t be simpler than that. It’s really not about ECNL at all. I personally think ECNL is stupid not to have made an attempt to persuade these very good programs to join in one, unified league, but that’s really their loss at the end of the day.

Their loss? The ECNL has made all the right moves all along. they could have any club they want on the girls side we all know this. Admitting they have made the right moves all along is something harder for the DA or should I say EX DA parents to admit.

As for College they are loosing federal and state funds by the millions. 33+ Million unemployed says enrollment will be way down and with less Football and Basketball tickets sold, funds for Title IX sports will be at record low levels. So when these coaches chose to spend their small dollars wisely searching for U16 and U17 talent across the nation next year do you really think they will be clamoring to watch U16 Salvo SC vs Philly Ukraine or U16 LAFC Slammers vs Ohio Elite? U17 West Florida Flames vs Rise SC or U17 PDA vs Michigan Hawks? Come on dude, we all know the answer. Lamorinda vs Utah Royals AZ or SLSG vs REAL Colorado. The list goes on and on.

+1

Exactly what are you +1ing?

You agree that College enrollment is both going to drop, limiting recruiting staff while inversely RAISING ECNL showcase status?

You think all of that is going to happen AND ECNL showcases are going to go on as normal? Have you been watching the news?

The entire State University of California system has already said they will be holding classes ONLY remotely. California’s D2 conference has already cancelled their fall sports. The MAC has already eliminated post season tournaments.

More shoes are about to drop but you happen to believe that HUGE ECNL Showcases are just gonna remain unchanged?

ECNL has 6 national events. 4 of which are held between November and February. You still believe those are going to remain unchanged with thousands of kids flying in from all around the country?

Now how financially viable will a National league remain if it hasn’t been able to host a showcase in over 12 months?

If you think Loudoun rec parents are pissed about being out $160 for a lost spring season what will ECNL parents be like without a real national showcase until next April after a fall season of zoom practices?

Florida will allow all sports with no precautions. So all the tournaments will be moved there. Done deal.

Who will fly there and how good will you play with intermittent training at best?

And not only would ECNL have to spend money for field space for three more events in FL they are still on the hook for the unused venues in Arizona, Texas and South Carolina.

Has ECNL already agreed to use these facilities going forward?

^^
Yes, they have contracts with these facilities to ensure scheduling as well as to lock in better rates.

This has more to do with not adding all of the DA’s immediately than anything else. Where do add showcase field space for up to 50 more clubs?

You just add another showcase location and more tiering. Simple. This isn't rocket science.

No, it isn’t that simple when you are dealing with multi year contracts as well as properly tiered showcases. When there are multiple locations for a showcase, even in the same city it makes scouting and recruiting harder than if the event is at one location.

If your team is on a lower tier at a different location it can dramatically affect the number of attending coaches to those games.

An A league does not pick up random clubs to build a patch work of leagues around the country.

ECNL>GAL>NL (EDP)>CCL>NCSL

In big cities, there are more than enough locations for multiple tiers. The coaches can drive to the various locations. It wasn't so many teams that multiple cities would be necessary.

What if GA never starts because of Covid? It would be a shame to end a league that never had a chance

You sound like a child nobody cares about this league it shouldn't even exist all the clubs should have went to EDP or ECNL should have allowed them in

What if clubs like the flexibility and lower cost of GA better than ECNL?

What if nobody comes to any GA games?

What if too big to fail ECNL clubs go “poof” in the next six months?

Well, that is certainly what you'll tell yourself when your team is not at the top complex.

It is what it is. None of the clubs in this region will be in the top tier, so we’ll be in good company

And somehow ECNL and their clubs would not be affected in the same way?

Under such a situation GA will not be the league that will have gone 12 months without revenue generating showcases. If Loudoun is struggling how well will PDA fair when they can't collect $1500 per team on their ECNL showcase?

If you think ECNL can go 12 months without a showcase, well, ok

Yup, $1500 spent on a showcase that will attract the same level of coaches you could get at WAGS.
