Bethesda 05 worked Mclean 05 today in the final. Easy win.

Bethesda 05 ECNL beat McLean 05 ECNL today in Discovery Cup finals.

It is impressive that both made it to finals. But at least today Bethesda was the better team.

So the top 5 are:

1 FCV
2 Bethesda
3 McLean
4 Metro United
5 Arlington

(Would love to see Pipeline or Baltimore Armour beat one of these teams this year but until it happens they don’t make the top 5)

Pipeline has not done a local tournament since last year's Bethesda Cup. I don't know when or where the team will get to play Bethesda, McLean or other elite teams. I did not see them in the CASL or this year's Bethesda Cup list.

I agree that the Discovery Cup group stage was a joke. One side basically had the B team of two ECNL clubs competing against ECNL teams. Discovery is not relevant other than a chance for teams with HS players to get together before their actual tournament season begins.

Can you please explain why think VDA 05 is better than McLean 05 and Arlington 05? They lost to McLean. Arlington is second place in their division of DA behind FCV for 05.

I am not that Pipeline person but that does not mean that I am promoting any team if I recognize that the team is strong. Pipeline is strong as is FCV, McLean and Bethesda. I don't think the other clubs referenced are at that level and the coaches of those teams would say the same.
