I swear there was an identical post about Starr.

Josh Starr’s life is probably 1000 times better now that he’s not running MCPS. Would have been less disruptive to keep him on, though.

The magnet mess (MS and HS) that MCPS is dealing with right now is legacy of Starr's leadership.

MCPS is just too large. It’s really hard to run a school system this big.

Both Smith and Starr have been particularly terrible leaders, however. Anyone involved in MCPS has seen the sexual abuse incidents and the decline in student performance and the lack of disciplinary actions, etc.

Well known fact if you have kids in the program.

Yea.. he hates it so much his own kid applied to the program. /s

I think it would look even stranger if his kid did not apply. Even bad IB is better than his home school. I don’t think your point is valid.

No, I don't think that would look strange at all. If he didn't value the IB program, why would he bother applying? It's not like that program is a cake walk. I don't think your point is valid. What is his home school?

I don't see people say he doesn't IB. He doesn't like the magnet version of it. He wants more local kids to do it and certain magnet kids, teachers, and parents think that diluted the magnet program.

If you read through this thread, and others, you will note how many posters claim that he doesn't like the IB program.

He doesn't like RMIB "magnet" kids version.

I don't know what this means... some of the RMIB magnet kids are from RM cluster. So, he doesn't like RM cluster kids in the IB magnet, too?

I get the sense that no matter who the Superintendent is there will be people who don't like the person because they don't agree with the things this person does/says.

It means he may or may not like IB program per se but he doesn't like how IB is implemented at RM - "school within a school" model.

Which is why some people may not like him. I posted up thread that I get the sense that he doesn't want a school within a school, which I can understand. He wants the IB magnet kids to be part of RM community as a whole, not be segregated in their own little world.

My kid is in IB.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about yet you get on this forum and act as if you do. You are not privy to the reasons behind people leaving yet you speculate and start rumors. What's your idea of an "excellent" teacher? No one gives a SH*# about Hoover anymore and anyone who knows what really happened understands why she is gone. Stop acting like you have some inside knowledge. You don't! Where's your education degree? Where's your knowledge of MCPS policy? If you don't like it, go! That's the real deal! It applies to teachers AND parents. Quite frankly, I do not understand why you and your type get any air time.

Blame the school. It couldn't possibly be the parenting, the current community culture of "anything goes!", or the rich diversity. SMH.

What a dumba$$ post. I think I probably have more ideas than you do. My three kids spent combined 12 years in RMIB (and probably about 40 years dealing with MCPS). Last one recently graduated. Kids still talk to their old teachers via social media. But, I guess you wouldn't know that, right? You are the one who should STFU.

You are really angry! When you have the power, you dont have to be so nasty. RM principal wants the IB program for all RM students, ignoring the factor that the RMIB is a magnet program for MCPS students from every hogh school. Ms. Hoover tried to protect the original mission of the RMIB magnet.
Why doest the PP’s education degree have anything to do with the discussion here? About MCPS policy, do you have inside information?

Thank you Mr. Monteleone for joining us tonight.

THIS is from an administration person at Richard Montgomery. Guarantee it.

Starr left five years ago. The changes to the magnet program happened this year. Time to let go of your Starr focus. If you didn’t like him, you can be glad the board fired him, but my opinion is that letting him go destabilized MCPS. First there was an interim and time wasted treading water, and then a new super who seems to be worse than Starr as far as I’m concerned. He takes no decisive action and has little courage when it comes to firing the worst of the worst, and he’s behind so many pointless new initiatives. And I say that as someone who thinks Dr. Smith is a nice enough guy with decent values, just not up for the MCPS superintendent job. Good luck to us finding someone good who WANTS to be MCPS super, though.
