How good does a kid have to be to make travel

You again. Please stop saying the same thing over and over again. There's no way to tell if a Classic team is good or not at the beginning. Most of them at U10 are school teams which have a mix of decent and not so good players to toe the ball. IME they are all roughly the same. The players won't go in the wrong direction like in Rec but they aren't really playing soccer either.

Sorry moron, but we just share our experiences for the benefit of those looking at alternatives to the insanity of travel soccer at u10.

I’ve never had the chance to watch any top U11 Girls team play yet.

Is their individual skill level that much better than a mid-tier U11G team? Or are they a top team because they play or have a better team tactics of possession soccer and passing?

We played against BSC U11 blue twice.

There is no way to play possession without good individual skill.

You can't be a top U11 or U12 team with boys or girls without having bigger, more physical, or faster players. At U13 then you can see how teams use the entire field.

My son is a U14 and the teams in the first division are filled with men. We were the shortest, pre-pubescent (most newly 13 Fall bdays) out of the 9 teams. It was shocking how much bigger, taller and thicker the players on those teams were, not more skilled or smarter players for the most part, just more physical.

That size advantage for males is a real deal until the kids are 16.

It must be a little discouraging for the skilled but smaller kids.

My U11 DD has a late Fall birthday too. I hope she doesn’t get too discouraged in the next few years.

She’s one of the better girls on her mid-tier team but I don’t know if it’s wise to have her tryout for a top team (ie BSC Blue, Bordeaux, etc.). Being with her team since Fall 2018, I don’t know if it’s wise to switch teams yet.

Let her blossom and look to make the move at u13. The point here is that there is no rush. I think by u15, you want to find the best team that she can make and then just leave her there. Prior to u13/u14, put your DD in a place where she can develop the best without paying an arm and a leg and driving up and down the I-95corridor.

Maturity is giving an appropriate response to the tone in the previous note. If I share advise based on my experience and someone tells me to sop, that person is behaving like a moron. I have provided enough support to my claim that there are strong classic coaches and teams that will do more to prepare kids for elite soccer than the C or lower teams at most clubs. The idea is that if you are looking for an alternative to travel then you can find a great situation in classic/select.

You haven’t provided any support other than your experience. Nothing you did is reproducible. Is your kid even playing travel now? How many kids from your Classic program went to play in ECNL or DA?

Nobody said a kid couldn’t play classic and not make a travel team. But not all travel is elite. If a kid has any ambitions of playing elite soccer then frankly you practicing malpractice by suggesting years of classic soccer as preparation.

No one is talking about Elite soccer.

People are saying that it’s better/cheaper to be in Select than the lower level travel teams. When my DD joined her mid-level travel team, there were at least 4 girls that should be in Select.

It is cheaper but better is simply subjective and depends on specific situations. To say it is better for all is just not true. Be honest and just say it is a legitimate option to travel. Nothing more, nothing less.
