How good does a kid have to be to make travel

That was my point. Too many parents are forcing kids into travel. It is more of a status symbol here. The whole systems needs to be changed so that you don't have B teams and lower traveling up and down I-95 for games.

There's really not a lot of "travel" involved with most of the B and below level teams in this area. Stop making points that aren't based in truth.

Have a ds on a B travel team in the NCSL, we only have 4 away games per season and only two of them were about half an hour away, so not sure what that person is talking about. And I don't know any kids being "forced" to play travel by their parents, for the vast majority it is the other way around.

+1
I have had 3 boys go through U9 and U10 in NCSL. There are 9 or so games per season, so roughly 4 or 5 away games. In my the 6 total years between my boys I'd say the average away game is a 20 minute-drive from us. One time (once!) we drove to West Virginia. Once NCSL starts real divisions, with promotion and relegation one-hour drives may be part of the deal, but still likely not more than 2 times per season.

Traveling from Loudoun County to play a team in a north Baltimore suburb is a trek or traveling from Frederick County to play in St Marys or Stafford is a trek. I know B teams traveling 2+ hours one way to PA for games. BTW, NCSL is basically a glorified classic/select lead and there have been cases where teams in SoMD traveled to WV for games.

Thank you for making my point - NCSL is barely a notch ahead of classic and not worth the travel. Lower-level EDP is slightly more competitive.

Just an example for you. https://www.edpsoccer.com/page/show/4377891-2018-fall-schedules

I completely disagree. We were in Girls Classic for 2 years and now I’m NCLS. Classic is a gloridfied Rec League. NCSL is by far much better and more competitive than Classic. If you are referring to only the Boys Team, then maybe. But definitely not the girls team. I’m referring to the NCLS U11 Girls Team.

I am not sure who you think made your point? I said in six years of little kid soccer we average 20 minutes of travel for away games. NCSL seems to make a point of having younger kids stay pretty local--something every family I knows appreciates.

As for NCSL being comparable to classic.. I feel silly taking the bait here. NCSL is huge. The top couple of divisions are totally competitive with CCL I and II. My kids play CCL teams in tournaments and futsal and the level is very similar. Sometimes we win sometimes we lose.

You have a point. I think NCSL below the DI and DII is not very comparable to CCL or EDP.

This is accurate, if the seeding has been done correctly. NCSL D1 and 2 competitive with CCL and EDP (above the lowest division typically, which is below the cut). Also, NCSL D1 and 2 ahead of classic. Outside of the unicorn coaches and teams that seem to be the focus of this thread.

I don't believe that either CCL or NCSL are comparable to the top divisions of EDP especially with Loudoun and Arlington playing in elite leagues. Discussing u15.

This thread is focused on u12 and under, not u15

Well even if you go down to u11, NCSL is usually the league for C or D level teams in MD. There are few if any A or B MD teams playing in NCSL or CCL. VA is a different story.
