Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha The existence of this blog, and all of these posts about kid soccer, would suggest otherwise. |
Oh I guarantee that you've driven where I live if you've ever been anywhere outside that s-hole! I've lived in DC. As I said, it's the worst. |
We really enjoyed the Bethesda tournament this year. My son's games got moved to a very nice turf field in Alexandria, and the games were highly competitive. |
Not that we were happy as a club or family that our sons would not play- but I would rather them not get hurt playing on fields that are prepared for play. Apparently closer to DC, there was more accumulation. I remember when CASL and Jefferson Cup were cancelled due to just rain. Sometimes I wish that we all were meteorologists or maybe not. Seems like no one got this storm correct. |
Who didn’t get to play? |
07 games got moved to Evergreen in VA and they had snow on the turf that they plowed. Poor excuse by the soccerplex. |
Most of the parents we spoke to at three different fields said "it was a bit of a drive, but thank god we weren't at Muldoons or Summer Hill". I didn't hear anyone lament the loss of those fields.
Maybe Bethesda will listen and start to move off the horse fields in the future. |
They are all bad - the most psycho people in the world. I’m a well off, well educated gal but I reffed for a year when I was home with my kids and I can tell you that travel soccer parents are mean, psychotic , cheating screaming lunatics. Just awful people. |
All of the girls and the older boys. |
You are ridiculous and I’m certain that you’ve never been to DC in your life because you’re ‘too afraid’. |
+1 |
Amazing how when a tournament is played on quality fields people are happy. Hmmmmmmmmm... |

I hope we don't ever do this tournament. We play at Loudoun Soccer |
We had a good experience at the Bethesda Premier Cup this past weekend. We had to change fields, but the new venues were excellent and easy to reach. We have kids in 3 age groups and our club had a number of teams in the tournament. They all had a great time. Excellent competition. The brackets were spot on. No blowouts in games in most age groups. All were very close. The referee teams were some of the best I have seen at a tournament and I am a referee. So, whether we were in a time warp or on a different planet than the rest of the folks on this thread, our experience was quite different.
Bethesda deserves a lot of credit for salvaging the majority of games for this tournament. Many area tournaments were cancelled completely or reduced to the minimum of age groups. BSC had U9s-U15s playing. I saw some great soccer out there. As for the level of competition, it was as good as it gets. A few top teams may have been missing, but not many. With nearly 800 teams in the tournament to start, this is a big undertaking. Intense rain and a pre-Thanksgiving snowstorm for the first time in 20 years caught the entire region off guard, but BSC was able to move quickly and save most of the games. As for the 'crappy grass fields'...we've been to tournaments all over the US and even the most prestigious tournaments end up with some teams playing on fields that are far less than perfect. In the end, its the same for both teams. As for next year. We are looking forward to the Bethesda Premier Cup already! |
