Please name the last big company that decided to establish itself in MoCo. |
You are an idiot. |
That's your definition of success? It's not mine. |
I agree. We could use some increase in our jobs base, but overall, this is an amazing county to live in for a wide variety of people. An excellent school system that outperforms most of the nation, including for minorities. Even though we have an opportunity gap, people of color are doing much better here than elsewhere. We have a robust public transportation system. An incredible community college, and the Universities at Shady Grove which allow middle class kids to live at home and finish their college degrees, without incurring as much debt as it could living on campus. We have great health care providers. We have very low crime, very low unemployment, low-cost and free amenities like public pools, skating rinks, parks, and more. It's not perfect and we have challenges. But we are not "ruined." |

People are not putting NEARLY enough concern into the Kirwin commission recomendations, that Jealous supports. It could result in Montgomery County's state funding for schools being cut by as much as 68%, with a mandate to come up with that shortfall locally, so the funds can be more "equitably" distributed to Baltimore, PG and elsewhere.
In fact it is staggering that the MCEA endorsed Jealous, given this information. |
I'm not a resident of MoCo. And the rest of the state is not as wealthy as MoCo. Hogan made a campaign promise that he kept; he kept the legislature from increasing taxes in the state and lowered household expenses for many MD families by lowering the tolls. Had Brown won, he likely would have continued raising taxes as O'Malley had done repeatedly through his tenure in office. Hogan paid for higher state expenses with the money that was earned by the state from the taxes on a longer summer when he mandated schools start after Labor Day. Jealous would likely overturn the XO for school starts, which would lose the added revenue for the state from the taxes from the longer summer. The residents of MoCo have a lot more disposable income than the rest of the state. MoCo residents may be willing to pay more taxes, but there are many people in the rest of the state that are already pressured by our high tax rate and don't want to fund Jealous' very expensive initiatives or the revenue loss from lost taxes. |
| Larry. Larry. Larry! |
| Jealous |
Wait a minute. You know this, how? The lowered tolls in 2015 took $54 million per year out of the transportation budget - money used to pay off bonds the state issues to pay for highway and bridge construction and repairs (including the ICC). How much more money did the state earn in the last week of August last year from tourism in Ocean City, how do you know this, and where did that money go? |

Nope, Hogan is not a moderate. He's a run of the mill far right Republican who attempts to wear the mask of a moderate. He takes money from Koch Bros, is endorsed by the NRA and would further expand access to firearms, opposed Syrian refugees coming to MD, cut hundreds of millions of dollars in funding from the education department, was willing to give billions of dollars in corporate welfare tax breaks to mega corporations to attract Amazon coming to Moco, etc. Hogan has all the hallmarks of a corporate tool. Jealous it is. People need to stop getting hung up on labels and actually examine these candidate's policies in practice. |
| Hogan is a BIGLY trump supporter. He makes a show of pretending not to be, but he is a total trumpkin. Always has been. Anyone who votes for Hogan is basically a nazi |
| We are going with Hogan, Jealous is a bit too far left for us and we need a moderate. We need someone who can invest in buisness growth in the state of MD to ensure residents are not paying the brunt of taxes. We need businesses that will employ personeel and those people who can in turn hire people for low wage jobs (cooks, cleaners, maintenance, etc). People are more likely to spend in a good economy and jobs tend to be aplentyful. | All the democrats in here saying they are voting for Hogan are idiotic. I do not care with your dumb responses back to me trying to argue my statement. IDIOTS! |
I thought Hogan agreed to some form of gun control. http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/384718-maryland-gop-governor-signs-major-gun-violence-legislation-into-law

I'm done voting for Republicans. The control all levels of our government from the state legislatures, governors, the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the White House.
I voted for Hogan last time because the Democratic candidate was terrible. Jealous is a fine candidate (not perfect for me) and I will vote for him. |
