I suspect that this is only the first head that's going to roll over this...

Man this is bad.

I sure hope so! Sadly, I disagree with you. I think this is going to satisfy a lot of people and put a lid on this pot.

Those are some mighty powerful statements those young ladies gave. They are so articulate and good, it just breaks my heart that no one was protecting them. Why? There was no competitive benefit to be gained by looking the other way on this. I just can not fathom what has happened here.....

For their parents, there was a competitive benefit to looking the other way. If you accuse the USAG of abuse, you could get blackballed and basically kicked out of the sport. Thus, ending the dreams of the kid and more importantly, their parents. It's sad all around and some of these parents really need to take a look at their actions. It seems like some of the girls told their parents and many parents just didn't ask. They just sent them away to be coached by people they didn't know.

Anyone? If so, what do you think of their approach?

I have had my share of coaches who try to disengage the parents. I never disengage, so it heats up, the coaches hate us, and we get slammed.
What are they thinking? Are we supposed to trust them with our kids?
Anyway, I have one dd who modeled and also did gymnastics. The adults in the kid modeling world get it, parents don't leave the room. In gymnastics, they are a bit hard-headed.
BTW, we rarely had trouble with sexually inappropriate behavior in either arena, but we did have an impaired coach. The only inappropriate one was a gymnastics coach who thought making fart jokes was funny. He was fired.

Coaches had better learn to respect engaged parents who understand appropriate boundaries. Coaches who seem to believe they're gods, need to be put in their place or fired.

I really hate how nonchalantly this is always thrown out there when men go to prison. I don't wish that upon anyone. Even him.

No. It's actually reserved for the most evil rapists. Now go away.

I would not wish it upon anyone. But honestly, I would not be saddened if convicted rapists and predators were preyed upon or raped in prison. They're being treated how they wanted others to be treated, and so be it.
