This whole thing is just stunningly awful. I am just in shock that so many of these young girls complained to coaches, parents and other adults and no one stopped this monster and it just kept on happening over and over and over again. WTF? Those are some mighty powerful statements those young ladies gave. They are so articulate and good, it just breaks my heart that no one was protecting them. Why? There was no competitive benefit to be gained by looking the other way on this. I just can not fathom what has happened here.....
For their parents, there was a competitive benefit to looking the other way. If you accuse the USAG of abuse, you could get blackballed and basically kicked out of the sport. Thus, ending the dreams of the kid and more importantly, their parents. It's sad all around and some of these parents really need to take a look at their actions. It seems like some of the girls told their parents and many parents just didn't ask. They just sent them away to be coached by people they didn't know.
