I have to begin to wonder how effective the FBI really is. They have done some really stupid crap in the past few years. I only hope that the people who are making mistakes and ignoring evidence are kicked out. But, I have my doubts.

Infuriating story - the officer that first took the report didn't act on it because he was up for a position with US Olympics and then he just retired. So no disciplinary action against him.

everybody failed those girls. Just one more level of authority that did nothing to help them.

Maddening.

And, it is infuriating that there is ZERO accountability for these people.

They really ought to put him through the civil litigation ringer and try to claw back that pension for violation of ethics and conflict of interest rules/laws.

That really is unconscionable.

Wasn't Comey the director then?

LOL you think the FBI director monitors every tip and allegation that comes into a local FBI field office? The entire point was that the local FBI manager in Indianapolis sat on the allegation because he was trying to shake down the US Olympic Committee for a job. It frankly sounds like blackmail.

It went nowhere because it’s the government. They don’t work in a speedy manner even if young kids are getting molested. They drink their coffees, look at the papers stacked on their desks, and watch the clock until it’s 4 pm and they can go home. It’s not their kids getting molested so whatever. When they get around to looking at the complaint, you can get grey pubic hairs. They do not give a shit. It’s still on somebody’s desk right now under a bunch of other shit.

The testimony is horrifying.

Why were there no female agents on this case?

And it appears as if the FBI gave the same attention to these victims as they did to Dr. Blasey-Ford.

There may not have been any to put on the case. Despite the negative attention local & state departments have gotten for lack of diversity & lack of women, feds have much worse rates for many agencies.

This case involves numerous female athletes at Michigan State University, not just gymnasts, and USA Gymnastics. There were dozens of victims, and corroborated accounts, during recent years. I hope that those FBI agents responsible for this enormous, horrific travesty are investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Having said that, your comparison of this case to that of Dr. Blasey-Ford is laughable.

at the very least they should be publicly shamed forever

What I cannot understand is why with all the years of incidents with Nassar didn't someone's boyfriend, brother, friend, cousin find in a parking lot with nobody around and beat the living crap out of him?

the women yesterday did a fantastic job. very brave. and my husband, who is former federal law enforcement thinks those agents should be prosecuted! and I agree.

the other thing that bothers me about the testimony yesterday, more old white guys, like the one that abused them, asking them questions. although Durbin and Blumenthal did a really good job. they were empathetic.

Feinstein needs to retire. she was terrible. and I say this as the bluest of blue democrat.
