it's infidel, sweetie

I noticed that when I googled infidel and swine flu and was corrected.

They are indeed praising Allah for this swine flu and have great hopes that it will wipe us out once and for all. It's all over the internet.

10:20 resolved to get her swine-hating a$$ off DCUM and into something productive saying still, not funny. It's more hurtful than funny. I might tolerate a measure of indelicacy for the sake of good satire, but that post crossed the line without even being funny.

My sister lives just outside of LA, and her children's school was closed. A classmate of my niece has swine flu. I now have a family member who has been exposed, and it really takes away from my being able to enjoy the jokes and silliness.

I am so sorry. I am a ball of nerves over this and I can only imagine how worried you are for your family.

How is your niece's classmate doing?

My thoughts are with you.

?

Not the pp you quoted, but our family has also set aside emergency supplies as recommended by the gov't.
No, we're not militia types. Nope, not a sign of anxiety disorder at all--to the contrary, storing adequate food/water/medicine/basic supplies was a small and easy step that has helped us feel prepared to the extent we can be for emergencies. We've done our part to be prepared, which allows us to let go and NOT stress or feel anxious about events outside our control.
Background: spouse works on terrorism/first response and part of that has included work with epidemiologists.

PP, do you mind telling me what you have stocked, how many in your family and how much it ran you? I have read the recommendations but I'd like to know the real items someone else has stocked up on if you don't mind sharing the info. Thanks.

Source?

(Not that I'm doubting you, I just want to see what else is being reported about it...)

10:20 here- 9:20 shouldn't take such liberties with a sensitive topic. 7:36 is a comic genius.

I'm happy to report I'm both.

I'm sure there is some Islamic nutcase somewhere declaring this an infadel disease. It is simply a matter of time before this decalaration if publicized on an infadel hating website. I take such liberties with all religions, every single on of them says and does things that are absurd. Didn't Jerry Falwell blame 911 on America's moral decay? I'm equal opportunity.

I was once called an infadel by my ex-boyfriend for consuming bacon in his presence (who also thought the only thing Hitler did wrong was...well, you can fill in the blanks).

Egypt is killing all pigs.. only the coptic christians raise them in a muslim country... is this not political?

Why would you doubt this? It seems completely plausible to me.

No, it is not necessarily political.

I'm not the PP but am a different poster who has prepared for various emergencies.

Here is a good resource with ideas for preparing FOOD for a pandemic or all-hazards emergency in 2 week increments, for people on a very tight budget. I know that doesn't actually include a lot of people here on dcurbanmoms, but I thought I would share it because a lot fo people really can't afford to stock up on an extra 2 weeks supply of foods.
It includes recipes.

List is on page 9 and 10 I think.
