NCS going downhill?

If true, sad. I hear helicopters.

Can someone post 2012 NCS college enrollment info. (like in that St.Albans thread)?

NCS publishes a college list, on the back page of the independent, but not the #s going to schools.

They used to publish a full matriculation list each year, as recently as 2-3 years ago. I wonder why they stopped.

Parents fighting over who got in over their DDs and making catty comments about who really wasn't qualified for admission at blankety, blank ivy league.

I don't see why the matriculation list should be public information. he overall list is sufficient.

A couple of years ago a student was not admitted to college. It ruined NCS' perfect 100% college matriculation. They chose to acknowledge where the students were attending (ie listed the colleges) rather than list name of student-name of college. Last year, same thing. I like how they do it now. And no it wasn't because of the "catty parents". Parents still know who is matriculating where and have equal ability to complain whether the list is published with or without names.

I'm not 16:04 but I want to add that in at least one of those cases the student ignored advice as to what schools were within reach, so it wasn't necessarily NCS' fault.

She applied early to an ivy was deferred and later rejected. It was the only school that she applied to. It was her dumbass counselor's first year and he didn't request that she apply to other schools. To cover the department's asses, that year they stopped listing the name of students with their colleges.

I heard the same thing 18:33 heard, but not that it was the counselor's fault. Seriously, what student and what parents think that they can only apply to one school? Why does it require a request from a counselor? Yeah, he probably should have worked the family and was in part to blame, but seriously? One school?

18:33 here. I was appalled when I heard about this. I remember the form my DS submitted to this particular counselor with her list. There was even discussion junior year about the schools she was considering. Also, emails were sent out to the girls regarding adding additional schools to their lists during Christmas break as regular decision app deadlines were approaching. The girl was deferred early so that should have been motivation to add additional schools. Something clearly went horribly wrong in the process.

Agreed but as I said I can't see how it was all the school's fault. There are parents, and by extension students, who feel they are entitled to get into an Ivy League School, who assume it will happen. The school would never tell girls they can make such assumptions, I know having been through the process with a DD who has great grades. If anything, they push hard to make sure they consider non-Ivy schools. I can't for the life of me understand how a student and her parents could think it was OK to just apply to one school, no matter what the counselors were saying.

Ncs has been going down the tubes since aggrie underwood left. I can't tell who's more full of shit Kathleen Jamison or David Armstrong at Landon. Note: if youre in the same league as David Armstrong then you have no business being in a position of authority.

Seriously, Ncs is still an excellent institution and I'm glad my sisters both went there. They are both really smart, grounded, and successful. Everyone should be aware that NCS is not the school it was 10 years ago.
