NCS going downhill?

We have a girl who didn't think of herself as a great athlete prior to going to NCS, but has found a great deal of success and is probably going to play her sport in college (believe me, we are surprised). She's gotten great teaching and mentoring, including in her sport, and her team is warm and supportive (and very funny, as I can attest from driving them around places). I'm not trying to counteract the idea that NCS can be intense, academically or otherwise, but our daughter is happy and confident and I've seen lots of others who fit this category also. I would just urge people to check the school out and have your daughter check it out before making assumptions based on DCUM posts.

I'm a PP who has had largely positive things to say about NCS but if we lived in VA and had access to TJ, sure, we would prefer to send our daughter to the best public school in the country. There aren't many people who are choosing between TJ and NCS, so it really is irrelevant.

Let's see the basketball coaches are warm and supportive and so are the field hockey & lacrosse coaches. Good luck with college recruitment!

Not sure why people have to take shots at everything. I was trying to make the point that our girl was not some sort of "alpha athlete" but found success and we credit NCS in large part. I don't want to specify the team because of privacy issues. Good luck to all who are applying.

Just out of curiosity, why would you judge a classes matriculation only half wy throught the yer before most students have decided where they will attend college next year? Most students in this class didn't matriculate until much later and many didn't apply ED so it would be impossible for them to know where they were going midway through the year.
Also, I know for a fact that there are at least 5 students going to UPenn, 3 to Harvard, 1-2 to Dartmouth, and 1-2 to Yale and this is a smaller than average class (70 students).
In future, you should wait to judge a graduating class until the end of the achademic year because NCS is certainly not going downhill.

Why such a small class? I thought when attrition occurs, they replace the student with one next in the admission line.

1.notifying colleges about discipline or academic honor code violations. Plagiarize a paper ? Student A 's school notified-admission rescinded. Student B-left up to student to notify and it wasn't done.

2. 100% subjective curves in some courses. Yes-C or lower raised to B .
