And I know lots of families who were rejected at landon and had to go to prep.
|
| Yes, this anecdotal evidence based on small samples of boys rejected at Landon who had to go to Prep and boys rejected at Prep who had to go to Landon is useless as an indicator of the relative academic strength of the two schools. |
Fair enough. This board and the stats shared herein point to an overwhelming state of parity between gp and landon. They are each others' biggest rivals athletically (and socially with the girls schools). Nice that there is this (literally) "old school" rivalry amongst the boys and, judging from this board, their parents.

Sure. Dream on. |
Yes, they are very comparable academically and athletically. But the comparison very much ends there. |
I wouldn't say that. My DS goes to Prep and has plenty of friends at both Landon and Prep. The kids from both schools come across as pretty much the same. |
Landon had 3 presidential scholars this year, including the top presidential scholar from the state of Maryland |
Ferris Beullar obviously |
Wow, that's just an absolute flat-out lie. Landon had one Presidential Scholar Candidate, one Semifinalist, and one Scholar (all the same person). http://www2.ed.gov/programs/psp/awards.html Are you lying on purpose, or did someone feed you misinformation? |
Oh, sorry I made a mistake. Landon has 3 national scholars, although their one presidential scholar is the presidential scholar representing Maryland, which is undeniably impressive. See the link below. http://www.landon.net/page.cfm?p=279&newsid=477 |
I'm sure that is true. My son also has friends at both schools. But there are significant differences that perpetuate from a secular vs. non-secular school. |
Well, looks like prep had a presidential scholar of their own this year:http://www.gprep.org/newsStory.aspx?pageId=75666 |

Prep and Landon are comparable academically and athletically. I am not trying to take shots at a school, only offer our own experience. I also am not intending to kick Landon while they are down. But, we were accepted at both schools. The attached is exactly what our prior concern was. Because of the "moral compass" that GP attempts to inspire in their boys, we don't ever expect to see something like this published on the school:

| I would have to agree that Landon has a convincing lead ( I will say 3-0) in nationally reported scandals (SAT cheating, Huguely, recent Fantasy Sex League revelations; I will leave out Duke since they were falsely accused). Go Bears! |
There were plenty of Prep guys on that Duke lacrosse team anyway. But these scandals have Landon slipping deep into the ranks of the less desirable, blowhard-breeding privates in this area. The new "safety school" for parents who even consider applying their DS. Landon needs to start over again. Clean house on it's board and administrative leadership. Really sad. |
