Anonymous wrote:Any offers for FVU 2014?

Boys or girls?

Either

Offers are out, we got one, but now you need to wait for everyone who accepted and then later accepted somewhere else to tell FVU they are no longer coming. FVU is the safety school so everyone takes the offer until the get an offer from a normal club then they forfeit the deposit at FVU and a ton of spots open up at FVU. One can understand why MV is the most insecure coach and man in the area.

Wild times. Our 2014B is interested in playing at a high level with some of his friends, and only tried out for FVU. As parents, we are not interested in chasing the shiny object, trying out for multiple clubs, and possibly driving 45+ minutes to practice 4-5 times per week. We may be in the minority and approaching it the wrong way, but our son seems happy and looking forward to it.

I’m guessing your son is currently at one of the main feeders into FVU if they have friends who will be playing there too? Do you know if they’ve sent out all the offers they intend to give, and if most are accepting? I assume most are coming from one or two teams.

I don't think you understand that "feeder" is for marketing to parents, and being from a "feeder" club has no relationship to getting on the team.
Not completely true. Some kids were marked as DP and have been practicing in the fall.

Agree with this.

Exactly. And one of the coaches from a feeder club was at all of the tryouts. Pretty sure there’s a relationship there.

If it is the coach I observed at the ADP scrimmage sessions, he was there because his son was one of the kids trying out. I actually thought it was really disappointing that (a) he didn’t go behave like a parent because that is the capacity he was there, and (2) that the FVU feeder coaches allowed him to be on the coach/player side. It’s just a bad look.

Gross. One of the feeder clubs has a parent coach situation for their top U12 team (pre-ecnl)? That's so unfortunate.

Ha - he may be an actual coach who just has a son.

A son who just happens to play on his current pre ECNL team who also tried out for FVU while he was on the sidelines with other coaches? Or is this not accurate info?

I used to date a kids soccer coach who asked me call him “coach daddy” after the sun went down it’s funny there is someone called that on this messaging chat board. Nice guy it didn’t work out but during private time he did like to always say he was going to “card me” at the time I though he meant check my id but I think he meant give me a yellow red card

If the nepo project fails does Coach daddy take is dc and leave? Can’t get exposure on a losing record.

If a kid wasn’t picked for an ECNL roster… is it setting them up for embarrassment to try out for their Super Y team? Or is it expected that RL level players will come out and hope to make it onto the larger summer roster?

No, Super Y is a summer opportunity to play with potentially kids of varying skills and playing level. If your kid is interested give it a shot. But summer ball can be on the hot side temperature wise

Super Y is trash. Most top players don’t do it.
