Let the offers roll!

On a serious note, when are ecnl clubs able to send offers? My DD isn’t playing next year so wondering when she will lose her starting spot.

Pay the deposit and accept the offer for the current team then "change your mind" after the spring season.

Forgive the noob question, but hey refund the deposit when doing that?

offers to new kids they want went out before IDs. Offers to returning players who they want go out same day.

are you on the hook for the full-year fee, or do you just lose the deposit?

Depends on the club but if you let the club know before the end of this season, you would not be obligated to the full year. They can fill in the spot. But don't show up to training for the first month of the new season and then leave...then you're on the hook as they have all the paperwork (player registration, cards, etc.) and they won't release the player until fully paid up. It takes time and money to full register players with the state and leagues.

No. You are basically paying $300 extra to ensure your dd gets played all spring. Then after the last game, you "change your mind".

The tryout process is beyond dumb, and the leagues allow this. VA clubs should be required to conduct tryouts in May, as most ECNL clubs in the country do. The VA clubs select teams for next year in February! The parents are essentially paying for the commitment from their club from August through February. You pay for 10-11 months of programming and get a commitment from your club for 6 months (Aug-Feb). Better players come, and you are not on the team with March, May, June, and maybe July of the season still left. That is a joke, and the adults involved in youth soccer should not allow that. People getting fleeced!

As others have said, just wait and explore all of your options. You will not know the true size and composition of your team until June or July. Can always pay the deposit, as others have stated, or just say you are exploring your options. Talented players will always find a home. Most of these "top" coaches are useless and will promise, recruit, and sell their souls to get a player and build their own brand. Sad state of affairs.

As long as we keep paying into it, it will continue. In the meantime, expect VDA to dominate the landscape until more changes inevitabley come. Bethesda to smaller extent in MD, and then theres everyone else. Ultimately we have great players around here, middling clubs, and very average coaching, so don't talk about Natty's either, thank you!

All of our players received NIL deals even at U8. The next few years are going to be amazing !

Couldn't agree more. But worse than deposits are clubs that don't even allow them so you either give them or commit to pay them over the next year whether you then try and go elsewhere to the time of $3-4k before Spring even hits. Complete bs.

It is really simple: "We are exploring all of the options to ensure we have the best fit."

Google FOMO, recognize it and fight against it during this process. It is real, irrational and can mess with your judgment.

Fear is what drives this process. If ABC club pulls your kids spot, make them pay later.
