Just watched all the episodes so far, perfect for a snowy evening. They’re doing a great job with this and the music is perfect.

The music is so ominous. I know it’s intentional but it feels like I’m watching a tragedy as opposed to a relationship unfolding organically.

I don't think it's very good. I like the music and 90s vibe and costumes but JFK Jr seems like a sweet shy man and that's not at all how he seemed, like they removed all the magnetism and confidence from him. Do not care for Meryl's dd who is just the dullest actress in everything. The one who steals the show for me is Kelly Klein.

Agree except I don't like Kelly either.

I think the acting in the show is uneven but that there are good performances. I also think some of the actors are being undermined by weird writing.

Dree Hemingway as Daryl Hannah is super grating, but I'm not sure it's totally her fault. Yes she's doing a full on impersonation, which was a mistake (though at times she does nail the mannerisms and posture, the voice and her face just don't work). But also her character is written like a villain in a horror movie. Literally she shows up in scenes like a jump scare every single time. Like JFK Jr. is just relaxing on a commercial set or trying to small talk his way through is mom's wake, and then BOOM heeeeeeere's Daryl!

The character is written to be hated, which is a weird and unnuanced take on it. It also makes it totally baffling why John continues the relationship with the completely unlikeable character who only ever forces her way into his life. And his mom hates her too. It just becomes nonsensical. I am hoping we are now totally done with her.

I think the actors playing Calvin and Kelly Klein are great, but that the stuff at Calvin Klein is often really weird. How many times do we need to watch Carolyn get off the elevator at work and walk through her office, waving hello to everyone (who DOES that? it's so fake). Some of the office stuff is funny and good (especially the stuff involving Calvin and Kelly) but they spend so much time there and a lot of it just feels wasted, like the long scene of John sending flowers and Carolyn rejecting them -- it just went on too long.

Meanwhile there has been very little with Narciso Rodriguez (close friend of Carolyn's, worked with her at CK before striking out on his own) or Carolyn's sister or mom. Presumably we'll get more with them moving forward but it's weird to me that we don't even meet any of these characters until, I think, episode 4, and by then it's clear they know all about John and are advising Carolyn on how to handle it -- where were they before? I would have rather seen some backstory with them than quite so much in the Calvin Klein offices, personally.

I guess they really wanted to depict Carolyn's professional rise at work to show the she was independently successful before John. But barely showing her sister seems especially weird given that her sister is also going to die in the crash. I was definitely expecting more time with Carolyn's family.

I love the music.
I have to say, I find Carolyn flat and unappealing as a character. Her main appeal seems to be that she plays by "The Rules" (remember that book?) and was GOOP before GOOP.

John and Carolyn were stunning together and had tremendous heat. The two actors are like pale cardboard facsimiles.

And they die because of his tragic flaw.

Listening to the Prestige TV podcast about this and they report that Netflix is doing a The Crown-style series about the Kennedys starting at the beginning with Michael Fassbender as Joe Sr.

NP- I had to look this up, had not heard! This is so exciting and he is perfect for the part. I just found rest of the cast. Love Laura Donnelly who was the OG Jenny in Outlander and amazing in it! Imogen Poots is great as well.

Michael Fassbender (The Agency, Black Bag) as Joe Kennedy Sr.
Laura Donnelly (The Nevers, Sugar) as Rose Kennedy
Nick Robinson (A Teacher, Maid) as Joe Kennedy Jr.
Joshuah Melnick as Jack Kennedy
Ben Miles (Andor, The Crown) as Eddie Moore
Lydia Peckham (Robin Hood, Nuremberg) as Rosemary Kennedy
Saura Lightfoot-Leon (The Agency: Central Intelligence, Hoard, American Primeval) as Kick Kennedy
Cole Doman (The Mastermind, Mutt) as Lem Billings
Imogen Poots (The Chronology of Water, All of You) as Gloria Swanson

The actress playing Carolyn is wonderful, and her charisma for me lines up with my unshakable view that Carolyn was more interesting and fun than JFKjr. It’s absolutely nuts that he killed her and Lauren through carelessness and Kennedy mythology perpetuated by people like Ed Klein somehow made her the villain of their relationship.

Does anybody see even the faintest physical resemblance between the actress & Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg?
