Not believing this for one second. This does not sound like something she would do AT ALL. |
I think she had a great idea for modern-yet-classic silhouettes and especially liked her streetwear but she was far from a risktaker. I only remember one time she didn't wear basic black, white, grey, or beige. Meh. |

(DP) I’m old enough to remember their relationship and death due to a People magazine subscription and being very invested as a teenager. Ha. The rumor that she caused them to start out late due to her nails was well known. The public back then perceived her as very difficult and demanding. Obviously I have no idea if it is true. Just saying, PP didn’t make it up, it’s what the public was told via gossip mags. |
Rumor is that the Kennedys put that out there to deflect blame from John. They were APPALLING to the Bessettes. A witness at the airport stated they arrived within a short time of each other. Since he had to prep the plane anyway, the small difference hardly mattered. |
Yeah I'm glad the Bessettes got a hefty settlement, the least they deserved. Not that any amount of money offsets their enormous personal loss. The Kennedys are monsters and I truly hate that anyone idolizes them. The only good ones died a long time ago. |
I never thought Caroline seemed nice, and her husband is a renowned @sshole, but they must have done something right raising Tatiana. She seemed like a nice, down-to-earth young woman who embodied the best of Kennedy commitment to public service. Jack is an immature brat, but maybe just maybe he's starting to grow up. And I always thought Kerry Kennedy and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend seemed okay. A lot of dysfunction and entitlement in that family too, of course, but I don't think they're all horrible. |
It is 2026 and you're basing this on People magazine's reporting from 1999. FML. |
RFK had 34 grandkids so there are probably some that are living nice, normal below-the-radar lives. Ted had more than than 10 grandkids, too. |
Do, but that is more likely to be accurate. Now both John and Carolyn are being deified. Journalism was actually much better then. |
I did. She looked like someone who was effortlessly beautiful. A total it girl. Granted, I was 10 years old when she passed away so I’m sure what appeared effortless to me actually required a lot of maintenance. |
Seriously? All the Kennedys had to do was have someone place a call blaming Carolyn and People would publish it. Then and now, it's little more than a PR mouthpiece. |
I don’t ever think I’ve seen a photo of her even wearing any nail polish (she barely wore recognizable make up). She certainly wouldn’t be getting matchy-matchy manicure with her dress color. Come on. Do you believe everything you read? |
| I watched the first three episodes. It's slow and I could not stand Naomi Watts as Jackie. She give him life advice which sounds inane--the writing is not brilliant. She comes off as a dimwit. Grace Gummer as Caroline seems like a good imitation of Caroline K. The leads are fine but Carolyn is portrayed as soft and retiring and I always had the impression she was firy and flinty. I liked seeing his relationship with Darryl Hannah. It's dumb but something to half-watch while doing crosswords for me. |
Agree Naomi is awful in the role, and the writing is beyond terrible. Sarah Pidgeon holds the screen but neither of them captures the spirit of John and Carolyn. |
