My understanding is that she was extremely late to the airstrip because she spent a couple of hours at the nail salon having the paint color redone several times to match her outfit for the rehearsal dinner.
By the time she finally arrived, it was dark already. They should have just skipped the dinner and waited until the next day to fly to the wedding but he thought they could still arrive in time for dinner even though he had not yet achieved the level of flying by instrument panel. There is no horizon in the darkness. They probably had no idea that they were heading into the water. Both parties were daft. This is why his mother prohibited him from pursuing flying small aircrafts while she was alive. She understood something about his lack of judgement. |

They were supposedly not getting along. He wanted to start a family and she was not on board.

| I’m really enjoying this! |
I've read several times they arrived only a short time apart, which is what the series showed. It was entirely John's fault, every bit of it. Poor Carolyn, Lauren, and the Bessette family. |
I think any pilot would tell you that it has absolutely nothing to do with her nails. He was the pilot. It’s on him completely. He killed them all with obvious negligence. It would probably be criminal if he had somehow survived. |
They might as well be cardboard cutouts, nothing resembling the flesh and blood humans. They're gorgeous, that's all. |

Did your read the book about the Kennedy women? It’s eye opening.

She said - he said. So the nail tech!? This was almost 30 years ago. I doubt much of this is true. |

| Carolyn was a very pretty woman but I never understood the hype behind her personal style. |
I loved her style, still do. She was the perfect vehicle for it too, willowy icy blonde, though I thought she was far more gorgeous before her makeover. There would have been hype surrounding anyone who married the "prince." |
I read somewhere that her makeover was to play everything down so there was less for people/media to criticize. Is that the makeover you're referring to? |
Losing a ton of weight and changing her hair to an ice blonde shade (weirdly like Daryl Hannah's) was playing things down? |
There is another auction of her clothes right now, by the assistant capitalizing on the timing of the series (exploiting them in death as in life). I wonder why Carolyn's family let her have all that stuff. It could have been auctioned for charity rather to benefit a leech who already made plenty of money from her book about them. |
I hope C's family at least has the wedding dress. That should go to a museum. I feel so sorry for Anne Bessette that she had three daughters and ended up with no grandchildren. Heartbreaking on so many levels. I hope the surviving sister is okay. I can't imagine losing all your siblings, including a twin, so young. |
